Today because of Operation Raptor I decided to promote my Engineer class.

I'm playing a match at level 14, and the host gets disconnected

I exit the match and go back in to assign some skill points and I see this:

 

Leveling up only subtracts from the number. All powers are now locked in and you're unable to assign new power ranks. To my knowledge there are only 2 ways to fix this is. One is to level the character twice. Hit 20, Promote, Run the risk of it happening again and hit 20 again. Or use a respec card.

I contacted Customer Support about this devastating bug and all they told me was to make a post about it in the forums and that they are only Tech Support and can't fix things like this... 

There also seems to be other people experiencing this glitch as well, and I'm sure it will only become more aparent further into this weekend as more people start promoting.

So please Bioware, fix this.

EDIT: About an hour later after making this thread, 3 more of my characters ended up getting corrupted.

computer it looks like it happens on the pc, i haven't had any problem on the xbox with it if this only effects the pc

Never happened to me and I have promoted like 14 times....

Ive had this before where I leveled up a few levels in one go and I ended up with a -13 and my level reverted back to before the multi-level gain. I had to re-earn xp just to even out the negative points before I could gain points.

I'm curious as to what promoting has to do with this. If you were level 14 when it happened you had already played multiple matches after promotion.

Exact same thing happened to me.  Got back to L20, promoted, everything reset correctly for my character.

If you promote your skill points are reset. You basiclly are now vulnerable to this bug/glitch. I'm making a beware post because a bunch of people are going to be promoting classes this weekend and this very well may happen to anyone. I think it deserves awareness and getting a response from Bioware would be most appreciated. 

I'm not too sure about the true nature of how this bug/glitch occurs, but this only happened to me shortly after promoting a class.

I've had it before and now again on some characters. Mostly happens on the non humans it seems

I just had it happen on my human sentilel - to fix it, I need to level him all the way up to 20, and then promote him again?

Edit; to be clear, I

1. opened up multiplayer
2. saw the Operation information
3. promoted two characters
4. picked one of the two I just promoted to start releveling
5. jumped into a game and suddenly found I still had all my powers fully leveled
6. finished (didn't want to mess anyone else up)
7. experience leveled to 6
8. went to character information and found negative numbers for points


Now, I don't care about respec cards, or the fun of having a L6 that can kick some serious butt, but I don't want to have troubles with folks thinking I'm cheating, and I don't want to have troubles with the Operation.

(I should have stuck to BG. This multiplayer stuff is fun, but seriously glitchy.)

It's actually kinda nice. It says you're level one, but you're as strong as a 18 or 19. lets you power level really fast.

For me all sentinels except the krogan and the human male soldier have exactly this and it is frikkin annoying as i wanted to rebuild some of them from scratch

Correct, or you can use a respec card to fix it.

I'm not even going to level any of my characters until this gets addressed, I promoted all but one of my classes and I'd hate to level every single one of them TWICE just to get around this glitch...

Yes this glitch which is on the PC mainly it reads like has been around way before this event started, surprised they didn't see and fix this sooner then now.

Don't promote, simple. I wanna promote two useless classes and I have too many useless respec cards anyway.

This has affected me as well. Here's some information on my case.

classes promoted (at the same time):
Sentinel
Vanguard

classes affected:
Engineer (Retain level 20, but all characters deleted)
Vanguard (Negative points)
Sentinel (Negative points)

This is really bad, jokes aside.  I sincerely hope it won't take same amount of time to fix this glitch as it takes with re-locked stuff..
