I've had this happen before, and I don't think there's been any negative affects associated with it. Just means my level 1s were as powerful as level 20s. It did seem to reset appearances and weapon loadouts, even deploying particular characters I had previous deployed, but that stuff was easily changed.

Given that it seems to occur at random, I'm guessing it's an issue involving data concurrency with Bioware's databases. This could be caused by a race condition, for instance, which can be tough to track down in complex systems. Seeing as it's not really causing detrimental effects to players (in fact, it's actually kind of good when it happens to you), I don't imagine it will be at the top of the priority list. I suppose there could still be some side-effects from this that we don't yet know about though.

Umm... I think you're disagreeing with me here.. not positive.

But if so, feel free to explain how I'm N7 475 now and I was previously N7 490. Leaderboard even still shows me as 490 there.

Just use a Power Reset if you have one,

It happened to my Infiltrator before. And I have plenty resets to spare.

Only reason I promoted anyway was for the silly raptor game thing

Something a little different happened to me when I promoted.

~Promoted my engineer, then took Salarian Enginner to 20. When I went to spec my human male amd female engineer thier stats were the same as if I never promoted it. (not that I think of it, it seems like the same glitch from the op, its just I caught it when I got to 20 again)

~Promoted my Adept, and my sentinel human male and female stats both reset, I was bummed out since I had used a respec card the human male sentinel.

~Also there are times when I unlock a character card and that character resets as if it was a new unlock.

Same thing here. All of a sudden my undeployed male soldier was deployed, had his old name and build and -16 points. The same goes for every single one of my vanguards, including my post-promotion undeployed manguard. Same names, same builds and all three with -79.



Edit: And as for "just use a respec card", not everyone has several dozen lying around to fix all their characters, nor should we be forced to rely on them because of another server/coding/voodoo hiccup.

So after promoting all my classes yesterday, I have this issue for my HM soldier, QInfil, HF engie and TSentinel.

Thats most definedly a different bug, as i have the N7 rating i should have and it's same in game and on the leaderboard, even thought my Turian Sentinel kept his skills after promotion.

I didn't really mind this problem. I promoted but kept all my powers and that is cool. Now, i can level all classes again much easier. I can play gold with level 1 characters as level 20.

I also got free character reset for character that i was using in the moment of promotion. I left two classes on level 20, but one character from thet class got reset an i had to create it again. Not much of a problem and i got a chance to give him different powers.

I have my Turian Sentinal bugged in this way, and while I would really love to play with him, I'm afraid to because I don't want people to think I'm cheating. There's no way a level 6 Turian Sentinal would have chain overload, and I don't have any respec cards at all to use on him. Should I just not worry about it and roll with him anyhow?

That why I dislike this Bug so much, it could easily give some one the tag of cheater when they are meerly effected by this stupid Issue that BioWare seems to be unwilling to even commit about and what if anything they are doing to fix this issue.

I can't help but wonder if this whole bug was somehow created by Operation: Raptor, seeing as how I'd never heard of, or been affected by, it until the day of or day before the Operation started. And now the entire point of the event weekend is out the window because Promoting is bugged, and I'm sure as heck not going to do so with any more chars. Thankfully, we only needed 75k players to go after the Commendation pack to succeed.

Not that it matters... the Victory Pack is like those little packs of tissues they give out as consolation prizes...

People are often very evil and stupid unforunatily, and with out Bioware making this Thread a Sticky at the VERY least, people my not know this is an issue effecting people.

And actually this bug just didnt get this much attention untill recently with the Operarion here. I know last week before they even mentioned this when I promoted one before fortress I had this Issue myself. The fact it is so random and doesnt effect every race in every class always and sometime when you do something to one class it totally effect a different race and class makes it a very odd and problematic issue.

I just find it odd that it not only resets their spec, it pretty much reverts everything about the character back to pre-Promote status. Their name and appearance are also not what they were when I remade them after the Promote, since I was able to play at that time just fine, but the bug hit me the next morning.

Such an odd glitch... XD And so annoying.

I had this same problem. Really annoying as I'm out of respec cards and now my sentinel got stuck with a useless point in Tech Armor.

This bug happened to me as well and the weird thing is that it didnt occur right after I promoted them - I know this for a fact because I renamed all of them right after promoting the classes and checked every characters powerset to make the NEW tag go away on each of them. When I did this all of them were back to proper lvl 1 with 1 point spent and 1 point available. It was only after I played a couple of matches that some of my characters got bugged this way.

To be specific, I promoted 3 classes: Adept, Infiltrator and Engineer

- Adept: played 4 rounds on Asari Adept since promoting => none of these characters are bugged so far

- Infiltrator: played 1 round on Human Female since promoting => Quarian and Salarian are bugged, Human Female is not bugged, Human Male is also not bugged (could be because I never spent any points on this character prior to promotion)

- Engineer: played 0 rounds on this class since promoting => Human Male and Human Female are both bugged, Salarian Engineer is not bugged (could be because I never spent any points on this character prior to promotion), and Quarian Engineer is not unlocked yet.

So for me 2/3 classes promoted have ended up bugged on all characters except the one that never had any points spent prior to promotion and the 1 character Ive played since promotion. Every other character seems to now be screwed.

This isnt the first time Ive had this bug happen, the previous time I promoted my Infiltrator this also happened. So my QI and SI have been bugged twice in a row now, effectively.

Also I have tried restarting the game client - that makes absolutely no difference. Once the characters are bugged... theyre bugged, period.

This happened to me once too! I guess if you're happy with point distribution it doesn't matter much, you're just overpowered for your level. But when it happened to me I spent a Reset Powers card and it was all good.

Today because of Operation Raptor I decided to promote my Engineer class.

I'm playing a match at level 14, and the host gets disconnected

I exit the match and go back in to assign some skill points and I see this:

 

Leveling up only subtracts from the number. All powers are now locked in and you're unable to assign new power ranks. To my knowledge there are only 2 ways to fix this is. One is to level the character twice. Hit 20, Promote, Run the risk of it happening again and hit 20 again. Or use a respec card.

I contacted Customer Support about this devastating bug and all they told me was to make a post about it in the forums and that they are only Tech Support and can't fix things like this... 

There also seems to be other people experiencing this glitch as well, and I'm sure it will only become more aparent further into this weekend as more people start promoting.

Happened to me as well, and another player I was talking to during a game. Reset power card fixes it if you don't mind spending one.

Promoted all six classes, had it happen to two of them. Not a big deal IMO - just level em back up and either leave them be or promote again.

Happened to me as well. Fortunately, I could care less since it is a class I don't play much and only makes leveling it back up that much easier.

EDIT:

The only thing I'm worried about now is whether I'll get credit for promoting it in the first place. I only promoted two classes and this only happened to the human female of one of the classes. I'm not going to promote more just to see if it gives me credit for it.

UPDATE:

Yes, I got credit for both promotions and recieved my commendation pack. So, this does not effect whether or not you got your commendation pack.

Put me on the list for the bug as well. I promoted my Sentinel team, Soldier team and my Adept team. Only the Sentinel team produced the negative skillpoint but. However, NONE of my promoted teams are showing up in my single player game. I got the accolade for doing it but nothing shows up in my single player game. No in-game email about it either.
