EDI and Garrus (my LI) walked out on my destroy/Shep lives ending when I was at around 7k readiness (I was WTFing that too). I'll play that save again and try to tape it on my cell phone to see if it replicates.

Bug....I had destroy w/ 8000 ems and 100% readiness and no EDI.  Just Javik and LI.  Javik is bugged too...he comes out every time for me and I never use him.

I think it's safe to say that Edi is dead. in the destroy ending everyone is standing near the memorial wall on the normandy. she's not there during the destroy ending.

I have "From Ashes" installed too and on EVERY playthrough Javik steps out as the second character.
I guess EDI can only appear for those who do not have the DLC. I tried uninstalling the DLC, sadly the game won't let me load my savegame then, saying the "From Ashes" DLC is corrupted and I should redownload it again.

I think, that a bug let's Javik occupy the 2nd character slot in the ending scene where EDI might or might not appear for those who have "From Ashes".
If anyone without the DLC could replay the last mission with EDI to confirm this, we'd be wiser.

Just a tip: If you don't talk to Javik after every mission he doesn't show up. There has to be a "talk-counter" or something in the game ... I have no real proof for that but it worked in my last playthrough.

She could still be safe and sound in her quantum blue box, it's just that her personality is gone becaue the reaper code made her self-aware. EDI could be rebuilt eventually with a different code to replace the reaper code and some education (you have to educate AI's and almost raise them like children to make sure they are well-adjusted). She just won't be the same.

For now, she's just the silent programs that run the Normandy, which is why they can fly it off the planet at the end. Without EDI, the computer systems don't work because she was an integral part. The program that runs the ship is left, but the person Joker loved and that Shepard cultivated is gone.

It may be the inconsistencies come from which downloads, if any, you have. I have experienced the Destroy ending in its basic form, with EC added and then with Leviathan added and each time it is a bit different. I do not have the DLC with Javik so it is entirely possible that also adds or changes things according to when you downloaded it. However, up to now I have not had the Destroy ending with EDI still alive.
With the original ending the final people I saw as the place exploded were Joker, Anderson and Liara. I had Joker, Garrus and Liara leave the ship (Jack was my romance).
With EC added but playing from beam, the final people I saw were Anderson, EDI and Jack. Garrus persuaded Joker to leave, I had the same group get out of the Normandy and Garrus held my plaque at the memorial. EDI was in my final party and appeared on the wall, so seeing her as the place blew would suggest she was either dead or going to die (or at least that is what I believed at the time), whilst Jack was alive but clearly the last person I thought about.
With Leviathan added, I replayed the ending from before Cerberus and used James instead of EDI. Garrus was my other party member. He was the one I carried to the Normandy. The last people I saw were the same as for EC ending. However, it was Liara who persuaded Joker to leave. Then the same 3 people exited the Normandy (confirming that Garrus was alive) but Liara placed the plaque (as though the plot markers had got scrambled and thought she was my love interest). EDI was still shown as dead.
All these were with a high enough EMS to get the Shepard breath shot after downloading the EC but not before (as I do not do multiplayer and the basic ending with Shepard alive is only possible if you do). So I don't think the fact that you got EDI alive necessarily proves anything but I should just be grateful that you do and that at least for your version of the story, the kid either lied or was just plain wrong. There is nothing to show that the Reapers or the Intelligence are infallible, rather the reverse.

A lot of people seem to think that EDI primarily exists within Dr. Eva's body, but she merely has control of it. This was stated several times throughout the game. Bring her to the Geth Dreadnaught mission to confirm this. She will talk on the Normandy, but the lips on her body don't move. She still exists within the ship (as with Mass Effect 2). There's even a conversation with Joker which states that EDI primarily exists within the ship. Here's the line:

"I've run all the checks, Commander. She's still based in the Normandy. Running this body just gives her a little more flexibility".

Bio got this right. If EDI's injured before the evac scene, she tells Shepard that "this platform is disposable." And in a low-EMS Control ending where Harbinger disintegrates EDI's body on the beam run, she does not show up on the wall, though her body does show up in the montage of dead people.

You know that her name is on the momorial wall if the Eva bot is destroyed on the low EMS beam run, too?
She was quite clear that she exists in the ship, destroying it won't do any serious harm to her. If you have higher EMS and evacuate her, she even states that directly: "This platform is disposable". If you ask me, Shepard is a moron for answering "Don't argue, EDI" because EDI is perfectly right. Is Shepard worried about Joker's sexbot or anything?

My point: Her name on the memorial wall was an oversight once, so it could easily be one again. The Bioware emplyee who was in charge of putting the names of the dead squaddies up there probably just forgot or wasn't familiar of when EDI should be there and when she should not.

She's dead. I created this thread long ago....when there waaaay to many "speculations" due to the original ending.

To my complete surprise, the EC made sense of everything and made me eat my words. Though, it amazes me that the original endings made it out the door. I have no idea how anybody could see them and say they were "fine".
