He was okay. He felt like a forced latino stereotype to me.

Yes.

Out of all the human squadmates we've had since ME1, he was the most fun and interesting. Ashley and Kaidan probably have a lot more fans, but only because they have been around since Mass Effect 1. That, and characters that are romance options both tend to have more fans, and more vocal ones at that.

For some reason I thought I would hate the character prior to release. He grew on me and I rather like him even if he is just a big muscle head.

He was all right, but I could have done without.

I think he starts out strong, then drops off a little once you get a ways into the story. He sort of plateaus at that point, and I never really gained more appreciation for him.

Maybe if ever played again I would have a higher opinion of him, but for now, I'm just neutral.

He's the best tank. Very, very hard to drop 'um in a fight.

And I approved of 'Loco', I won't say more.

And I'm a latino, he seemed fine to me overall.

I really enjoyed his character (and voice actor). Personally, I was a little shocked to hear that he's not a romance option for femshep. Seems like a solid choice for one, but oh well : (

Yeah, which is weird considering I was all prepared to hate him.

Yeah, I liked him.  His character and his motivations were pretty well explained.  He was deep enough to be interesting, but not so much that he seemed angsty or over-the-top.  He was pretty humorous as well, and his abilities were solid.  I found him to be more useful than Ashley, to be honest.

He didn't seem like a stereotype to me. You could only tell he was latino because he mixed in a few spanish phrases.

He's certainly effective with fortification and carnage, if you meant the question that way.

As far as conversations go, he's interesting, but his best stuff is interacting with the other NPCs. Bragging contest with Garrus, getting Ashley drunk, joking around with Cortez, etc.

Its nice to have a companion or two who isn't about to go emo on you at the drop of a hat.

Before the game came out, I thought that most people hating him were being whiny idiots complaining because bioware *dared* to put a new party member in ME3. After playing the game and viewing the forums more, I feel like that is a depressingly accurate assertion for a lot of people.

James was human, and more of a regular rank and file kind of guy than most of the people we're used to. I enjoyed talking to him, and felt he was a worthwhile presence on the Normandy.

Freddy Prince did a good Job as Vega and this is probably his best Work since playing Freddy in Scooby Doo.

2 things.
1. He played Freddy in Scooby Doo.
2. He sucked in those movies.

Personally, I hate how he takes the places of other possible squadmates from ME1/ME2.

Would you rather have Jacob?

Because that is who you would have gotten if Vega's role on the team was replaced by a similar ME2 squadmate.

I like him but I feel like you never really got a chance to know him. He hardly had any scenes. I mean none of the squadmates were that fleshed out in ME3 but with everyone but James you had 1-2 games full of extensive dialogue, scenes, and loyalty missions. So even if someone like Liara or Garrus had few lines, we already knew and loved them.

My first playthrough I actually brought him along on missions I was iffy about, just in case I had to sacrifice someone...If I had to choose between an extensively developed character and the new guy you don't really know, well it was no contest T_T

He's a sexy beast though and should have been more developed AND been a LI for femshep :3

He was kinda fun, but seemed a bit pointless

I liked him myself. Great interactions with the rest of the crew, especially Garrus.

Loved Vega. As prior-service myself I thought he was exceptionally well written, I imagine much of his character is lost on civilians.

I liked him for the same reasons, though I think his personality jives more with a junior enlisted man rather than an officer. They should have made him a Lance Corporal, or whatever the Mass Effect equivalent is.
