Better than Jacob, but still didn't feel like a big enough presence on the Normandy. I would rather have had, say, a ME2 exclusive squadmate instead.
Did anyone like James Vega?

Like many others in this thread, when I saw him and his ridiculous bodybuilder physique I expected to hate him, but he's actually developed into my favourite human male squadmate in the series. He's way more likeable than Jacob ever was, and as others have mentioned, all the moments when he is around the ship interacting with other squadmates are great.

Not much back story with Shepard such as how they met, so he just felt like some guy. That's of coruse if you didn't read the comic, but it still felt like I didn't know him even when I have read it.

Yeah i liked him, would of preferred more time with ME2 squadmates but for a new character he is pretty good. I would probably of taken him on most missions before I finished Rannoch if Liara's warp bombs and stasis weren't so awesome.

I adored him. Would rather some in-game backstory as to how they met etc, but as it was they executed the relationship pretty darn well.
While I didn't mind the auto-flirting he had with my Shep, I do wish there had been an opt-out thing for players who would rather their Shep not be so flirty, even if it is in jest.

Good character. Not emo and no outstanding daddy issues. Good VA, has good utility in combat unlike say, Jacob from ME 2.

He was quite likable, though I never had him in my squad (except for the last mission, 'cause I expected them to die in the finale). Although I must question Bioware's judgment, seeing as they're introducing an entirely new character in the last part of a trilogy. I think Cortez would've been fine as the only new addition, Chobot not counting.
Also, I'm pissed that they put all this work into him rather than expanding/improving the character interaction/relationships of the already established ones (or an ingame model of Tali's face...).

I liked him.
Would have been nice to have a bit more back story regarding his relation with Shepard, but it's not a big deal.
Better than Jacob, that's for sure.

I like him. What is up with the Vega hate? I thought I would not like him but he's actually a cool dude and specially useful as a tank for infiltrators lol.

He was fine. Pretty sure he was meant to be of a military style. He has a few issues, but he is dealing with them decently. It beats a lot of the moody, broody, and "broken" character personalities we usually get.

He was pretty good, and I thought he fitted his role. Would have rather had Grunt (whose squad role he takes), but eh, whatever.

I liked him.
I play male Shep and he was kind of there but Garrus overshadowed him.

If you take him with you he actually has a lot of interesting dialogue, I really wanted to take him with me more often, but my first play-through I did in insanity right off the bat so I needed a team that was functional and his skill set is just really "meh", and Garrus already had the hard-hitting role, with the advantage of having overload (being a vanguard i needed a shield disabler), and i needed Liara for the last slot to detonate biotic combos with me (Kaidian would've sovled both these issues right off...)

He was interesting, and I found him a better character than I thought I would, but I didn't take him on missions after I unlocked Garrus.

Ehh.. I kinda question why they gave us him over Javik, I understand that they are using him as the main character for the anime (interest lost for me).
The whole time I talked to him.. all I could think was Fred... this is Fred from Scooby Doo.... he is whiter than white.
He did have a decent sounding accent when using spanish, but it felt like they really tried to force it and make him latino.

The anime is not his purpose within Mass Effect 3. Also, Javik's role in the game isn't even essential.Grimskull89 wrote...

Eh, I didn't mind him but I never used him after the short outdoors section of Mars and Eden Prime.
On a sidenote, though related to this issue, I'm really glad I always let Ashley die on Virmire in all my playthroughs.
