I hated him at the begining but he seemed to grow on me. His character actually seemed to mature a bit under your tutelage (maybe that's just my imagination) I thought they actually built kind of a mentor/student relationship.

Not related at all. You just wanted to voice your dislike for Ashley.

Related. Ashley and Vega are the same character and it's better to have Kaidan because of his tech and biotics instead of another soldier.

I really liked him. He was quite different to both Kaidan (who I love) and Jacob (meh), which was nice.

He was ok. Definitely better than the other male human companions. He wasn't my favorite, and I didn't use him as much as the others, but I liked him.

Same class =/= same character.

I thought I wouldn't, but the combination of FP Jr.'s excellent voice acting, the character's natural appeal and gameplay usefulness quickly won me over.

James and Edi were my two main team members, so yeah, liked him fine. The whole 'Loco' thing got a bit tired after a while though.

His interactions with the other crew was awesome. He earned bro status on Rannoch with Garrus when you tell him to disable the console in the rescue mission iirc. He made up for not having a Krogan squad mate to be honest.

Edit:  Seriously, the look Garrus gives you as Vega is kicking the console made me pause the game because I was cracking up so badly.

I don't dislike him, he's just not compelling. Everytime I hear him chatting it's like 'yeah, kinda cool'. But I never felt the urge to go out of my way to see him.

To be fair, they're pretty shallow characters. The most interesting thing about Vega is that he's hispanic.

I don't hate or like him, but there is very little told about his relationship between Shepard and VS, that it is hard to understand him, sure he has cool powers, but I can't wrap my head around him.

Just like all the other human squadmates. He was OK but no comparision to Garrus/Liara/Mordin/Legion/Tali etc..
Generally it is a problem of ME3 that because of the relaltivly weak human squadmates I never really build a connection to humanity in Mass Effect. For me I think it would be more dramtic if at the start of ME3 Illium is destroyed or one of the non-human homeworlds.

Jacob is nowhere similar to Vega. Grunt is.

That's how it works. Shallow descriptions for shallow characters with forced, clichéd backgrounds.

You never spoke with that vega character did you? He is as emo as a steroid bomber gets. Crying all along about his mission and how it was in vain and all that.

He is no Kaiden tho. That guy was built way close to the water.
