Are there any difference in reaction to either?
I plan to play a second game as an elf mage but was wondering if there's any differences if I ran a human mage? Beside stats obviously?

The mage thing is the same. But people treat you differently as an elf than as a human.

besides the stats? no, no difference. well, elves are shorter and have pointy ears. and get no respect. merchants and stuff will sometimes talk **** to an elf where they would have treated a human with more respect. but no gameplay differences. its all in the character look and RP experience.

There are toooons of dialog options that are different. I remember being very impressed with the utter reversal in some of the reactions I got from various NPCs when I started my first non-elf. It was really neat.
