Here's a post from Raellon on another thread that I felt has good points:
"The story and the world. It's great, it's immersive and it has just enough new things to be inovative, and enough old ones to feel familiar. I like it a lot, especially the real-life references, which you seem to dislike. That is a matter of pure taste, and not in any way bad design.
But that the world could feel a bit more alive is painfully clear as you go along. We live in an age of free-roaming RPGs like Elder Scrolls and Gothic trilogy, where you are given absolute freedom and the emphasis is on exploration. That is all well and good, but I do like a story-driven RPG every once in a while, and DA:O was a god-send, really. Instanced gameplay, as Baldur's Gate saga proves in myriad of ways, can be the ultimate roleplaying experience. DA:O's Ferelden certainly has a great deal of depth, but seems to lack scope and breadth. Athkatla and Amn was not just a group of compiled Codex entries, but a living, breathing world, that one felt it has its own life, its own heart away from the main plot. Here, we see precious little of that Ferelden, even though we travel through it from south to east to west and north. Surely they had to put the main screen on the Blight, but it wouldn't hurt to give us some taste of what the culture and people are like from simple, day-to-day things, such as tavern-talk(and I don't mean those rumours you can hear from the Inkeeper in Lothering or Bodhan the Dwarf-merchant at the party camp), personal little squabbles and intrigues of common folk(generic NPCs called gossipers just don't cut it, it just reinforces the feeling it actually is all about me, as they don't even have a name). Being a hero is great, but I would first like to get to know the nation whose hero I shall become. A duel between two chasind over wounded honour in Ostagar, or a furiously upset mother running after her mischevious kid through the streets of Denerim, that sort of thing. People who are not a part to the story, or in any way quest-related, offering a scoop into the Ferelden outside the Blight, showing you what exactly it is you will be saving."
What exactly do we want to see in D.A. O. 2?

polish,
this game had virtually no polish whatsoever, there are little mini bugs and glitches all over the place.

I'm going to propose something that's improbable of occurring. It'd be be cool though:
Bioware combines with Bethesda. Create a open-ended world of Thedas - specialty of Besthesda, with the incredible dialogs and storytelling that is the trademark of Bioware, for Dragon Age 2! Combat can be first-person, over the shoulder or zoomed out for party-based control.

I would like to go to Orlais and become emperor, also I would like a story more focused on conflicts between nations, and politics rather then darkspwan. Wouldnt it be cool to have an adventure like Maric and Loghain when they were young. Other then the story I would like more equipment, more unique equipment, and places where enemies respawn so I can collect as much exp and money as I want. Also capes, cloaks the option to hide helmets all the time (if there gonna be that ugly why not?).

The game is to awesome to add more request for me atm, but i want more encounter, more quests, more contents, more side quests, more choice where i able to control other VIP npc and play their roll before and till they meet my character (play as Sophia , Duncan etc), more encounter surprise, more night raid , more random generated map with different encounter with setting i can set , travel any where without the need to run out from a dungeon when there is no battle, but the current mod portal mod i had fixed that hehe, but most importantly it would take me year or more to complete.

Before this I'd like to maybe explore the continent to West/Northwest! Make the areas non-static, as in make time move forward. The only part that is sweet is if you leave redcliff. Make people move and go about their lives. Make it as real as possible. Free roaming and no restricitions!

LOL, didn't realize it was rotatable until I tried it. Anyways a suggestion: no glowing party members from top down view.

I'd like to see DA2's story/characters/quests contents to be less 'vanilla', less 'mainstream'.

Much less people wielding two-handed weapons, as it kind of cheapens the dual-wielding ability - it should have been a skill that's so awesome that few people can achieve it.

The player must always feel that he or she is exploring really interesting areas. This means that areas always need to have a unique feel to the art and design.
To me, only Korcari Wilds and Ostagar in DAO were really up there. The others were mostly boringly linear and repetitive dungeon-crawling.

I'd like the next one to be about rebuilding the Grey Wardens, perhaps travelling to other places like Orlais to find out how to do the joining, picking recruits, etc. The recruiting part could be pretty interesting as not all of them will survive. that has lots of character implications if you're playing a good character, and for Alistair. I can't see him taking that well, although he'll know it's necessary.
I'd like it to continue from the end of the game. Not only do I want to see what happens next for my party, but it would take the choices that led to a specific end game and make them even more important. This game would start in a completely different place for each ending in the first game with some pretty stark differences. I wonder if continuation will even be possible, actually, Each ending would produce an entirely different game. I sure hope it's possible, though.
I'd also like to get to know all the characters more through new character quests and further develop the existing relationships/romances. Maybe, if you pissed someone off enough that they left, there could be additional quests to regain their favor and allow for the possibility of rejoining the party. Of course, that will not be possible in all cases.
And I would like there to be more of the party chatter that was so amusing in the first game, perhaps a little more often, although it did make me leave Morrigan back at camp for a while when I got tired of her constant disapproval and nastiness.... That's good, though. It makes the characters seem like real individuals. It would be interesting if some of the comments were triggered by choices made in the first game.
Smaller quibbles.... I don't care for the female models. Their breasts are pretty much the same size as their heads, which looks both silly and juvenille. Those teeny arms couldn't possibly swing a sword or hold a shield. I'd like to see both those things change.
I liked the idea earlier about different actions in camp. It would be nice to sit down next to someone to allow them to instigate a conversation, or share a drink. Generally, more normal camp behavior. That could be worked into the approval and persuasion system, as well. You could get a different response if you let them bring something up, or if you ask while having a drink instead of marching up and demanding answers.
It would be nice if you had the option of having the warden insist on recognition that it was the group that solved a problem when thanks are given, or giving credit to party members who were particularly useful which could affect approval/disapproval. It really bugged me when the warden acted like he/she did it all alone. There could also be decisions in which the warden defers to party members when decsions have to be made, leading to more possibilities for approval/disapproval, consequences, and affects to relations between party members. For example, in one possible case, Alistair should have definite opinions about rebuilding the wardens and want those opinions acknowledged.
I loved this game. I just want to pick up where it left off, with the Grey Wardens in disarray, and see what can be done about that.

I've noticed a lot of people would enjoy to transfer their DAO character to DAO2 if it would happen. There is only one thing I'm wondering - how would you change the Level/Spell design so you can level to, I don't know, lvl 35-40, without just bloating all the skills and become a "master of everything"?
Obviously you'd need more depth in every "spell tree", but I'd like to see how you would address that situation/ what you would add to reinforce the spell tree experience, or switch it all over.

Good point. Hmmm.... People could have the option of creating new characters, in my scenario that would work as a new warden joined by the grey warden and/or Alistair. There could be different origin stories depending on where you were recuited and if you were conscripted, That would level up as in the first game. If you were playing your game one character, perhaps a skillcap and making it more about character development than acquiring new skills? Or perhaps something changes for the wardens, lessening their skills and they have to relearn or acquire new ones to great angst and drama.

1. A reformed Darkspawn as a playable character, in fact, it would be an interesting twist to see some Darkspawn being used as slaves after the quelling of the Blight.
2. Continuation, much like ME2.
3. a six member party with larger battles.
4. Disciplines. such as hand to hand, wrestling, judo, karate, etc.
5. a return of the long extinct Griffon?
6. more adherence to the Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 rule-set. Never fix what isn't broken, although I am not sure of the legal ramifications.
7. a larger set of spells and talents.
8. deities, spirits and gods?
9. a foray into undersea exploration
10. naval battles and ships, pirates and traders.
and finally,
11. the surviving characters.

I made my own thread on what I'd like to see, but I'll give some opinions here also.
1) More customization. You do a lot for your characters head at the beginning, but nothing for the rest of the body. I would like to see that change. Also customization in terms of armor, clothing, weapons, robes.
Don't know but when I can make my character look exactly how I want them to look I enjoy the game so much more.
2) DLC - A fully customizable stronghold that coincides with your characters class.
3) More party members
