But some people would argue that there is no point in playing pre-ending dlc because it just feels pointless.

I feel the ending needs to be adressed first. True.

The other 98% of the game was not that great RPG wise anyway..... broken journal, one quest hub, Tons of auto dialogue and almost all side missions being scan and grab....

Um was ME3 really that perfect until the end? I'm on my 2nd playthrough and now that the awe has worn off my opinion is changing a lot.

The game play has gone in a different direction them I expected. Just about every mission has some variation of the multiplayer horde mode thrown in. Whether its sit on a turret and kill waves of enemies, or pick a squad member to do some action while you defend them from of wave of bad guys or do both at the same time. Then of course you have the multiple occurances of encountering bad guys with plot armor where your whole goal is don't die, e.g. Kai Leng and Eve. I just feel the imagination is lost and ME3 is relying on an over used and quite dull gameplay formula that gets very repetitive.

I'm just not so convinced ME3 would be any good if it wasn't the third installment of such a loved franchise.

you pretty much just described every third person shooter out there O.o

Missions packed full of stationary turrets and horde mode doesn't describe ME1 or 2

horde mode = waves of enemies coming at you that you fight until they are dead. = shooters in general

and it sounds to me like you are just annoyed with turrets lol afterall they didnt show up every level. There is a lot of enemy variety and environment variety in ME3.

Hmm now that you guys mention it, the game actually does feel kind of empty, kind of meager compared to me2 or compared to what me3 could've been and what we expected it to be.
