Now, we all know that Mass Effect 3 is the last game in the Mass Effect Trilogy, ending the Commander Shepards story once and for all.

But that has leaved me thinking: will there be more Mass Effect games in the future?  Naturally not games with Shepard as main character, but other games setted in the Mass Effect Universe.

So, what do you think? Will there be more Mass Effect games, and if the answer is yes, which?

My guesses:
- Strategy Game, story spanding over all three games, ending with the fight for Earth. classic Cammand and Conquer-style.
- MMO, less likely, but the universe could easily support a Mass Effect MMORPG.
- TPS, like the three original games, but with other persons as main characters (Jacob Taylor, for example, has been used in Mass Effect Galaxy)

There will be more games... even with all the controversy, the Mass Effect franchise is a cow to be milked for along time... still plenty of milk in it, but not for me with the current ending..

The Mass Effect universe is one of the best game-universes ive ever known, with The Elder Scrolls as number one... So, as you said, there is plenty of milk to the people.

There will be more, that's for sure. I just hope it won't be a prequel.

I just hope they go along the way of Resident Evil 4. Same game play, recognizable characters, yet a story that is new that just runs tangents to the old.

Anything can be good if done right.

The trouble with making more mass effect games is they'll never make a story that matches up to the main trilogy (forgetting the ending) and all other games will not seem as important as the originals.

All good things must come to an end.  Mass Effect was an awesome series, but I don't see how any game can be made that takes place after the events of ME3 unless Bioware makes one ending canon.  I guess prequels might be possible, but I don't really like the idea: the stakes would have to be lower and any major decisions that are made would have to be minor enough not to affect the original trilogy's storyline.

I for one shall pass on all milked future products like ipad failed games and a possible MMO(we can see how good it's going with The Old Republic...played wow for 7 years, played SWTOR for 2 months nuff said) and i am a SW nerd.Strategy? Really? Don't we have Starcraft already? If it's not a quality RPG with a GODDAMN ENDING they can go milk EA on Mars.

I'm sure there will be more; the more interesting question is how will they go about doing that.

For example say the next game doesn't show up until PS4 and Xbox720; can I move my saved files? If I can't that means they 2 options (that I can think of atm): Either they have to set a canon as to what happened in the ME universe's larger events (geth/quarians living or dying, krogans being cured or not, etc). Or they have to wipe the slate clean and start from the ground up.

Without our saves it'll look really strange to people who have played these games to have an mmo or another tps arrive, and those who killed/saved off species in their playthroughs find them intact/missing. It's going to be interesting to see how they continue with the franchise outside of prequels.

Easy to move saves, if Bioware care.

1) Patch ME3 to upload choices to Origin account.
2) Login on Origin in ME4, choices get downloaded. Have fun.

Exactly, that's my point. IF they do or don't let you move them.  Not saying it can't be done, or that I don't know how it can.  The cloud saves could fix that issue assuming they utilize it, as well as what you mentioned.

Do you think they will let us move them?

No clue honestly since I'm not behind closed doors with them. I'd hope they would make an effort to do so, but honestly you just never know until the time comes for the next games release.

They should fix the endings. I don't care a new ME game if they don't change the endings.

End of the line.

If it's not an MMO it will most certainly expand on the multiplayer side to the detriment of single player story. Fact is making MP map packs, new weapons, gear etc.. Is simply more cost efficient and requires less development time. This is the reason people dislike MP elements in games they like. It's not being antisocial. It's simply understanding business.

Why spend X amount of money on voice actors or writers or scripters to make the cut scenes perfect. When you can spend a 10th of that money on MP packs and make way more profit.

Remember what happened to Star Wars when Locus made Star Wars 1, 2, 3...

>.<"

I worry about Mass Effect if they continue. Just... make something else totally new Bioware.

I think the only direction to go now is Mass Effect Pinball.

MMO idea is just bad. There is not much space for deep characters and epic galaxy-wide story, like Mass Effect always was. Better another RPG, in a very far future, when the galaxy recovers itself, when they have enough space to tell another story.

I wont play prequel for ME series, as there is no use with this ending.
And with this ending there is no future in ME universe.
Rest in pieces.
