Also a Shep's origins would be cool. The Skyllian Blitz wasn't just a mission: it was a war. It would be great to see a game based around that or the First Contact War, I would say on Akuze but honestly beating up a bunch of Thresher Maws would be boring after a while unless they pll some AVP BS and make it awesome.

They could just make the destroy ending canon because Shepard survives much like how you can't continue a save from Mass effect 2 if Shepard dies.
Nah -- Bio's never going to make it canon that Shepard deliberately committed genocide. They'll have to use Control instead.

And if it is just 500 years after and Liara survived you could meet her somehow (and maybe wrex or Grunt since they seem to be able to live long enough) and you would be tasked in something related to the past and your new mission here (could be surviving species fighting each other for the remains of technology or ressources or whatever reasons, and you fighting to help your own party to win or make peace etc shepard way.
Well. I would hope another story. Cause only multiplayer fps style doesn't entice me much.
Hopefully the world won't be eentirely endoctrinated by the fps godchilds lol (no offence to the fps only players ;op).
(edited to correct typoes and explain myself better).

I KNEW ME3 was going to be the end of Shepard's story and expected that..... yet I was still looking forward to stories being told in the ME universe after the reapers where taken care of.
What I did NOT expect was for them to literally destroy the ME universe at the end of ME3.
No matter how you spin it... the galaxy is not even close to the same after ME3. Even if everyone doesn't die or revert to stone age technology, you still have no more Mass Relays.
That's a big part of what made Mass Effect unique!
I was even hoping for a pen-and-paper RPG spinoff of Mass Effect, but even that is dead to me now. What's the point?

The enemy are the creators of the reapers (like the star child) that still wish to continue the cycle of destruction and look for new and powerful ways to destroy the Galactic Civilization.
I also think they should find a new hero to play as, maybe even pick your heroes race like they did in DA:O, but if no one wants a new hero and if everyone insists on playing Sherperd they can find his DNA or corpse and clone him....
Thats what I would do but what do I know.

I think there should make a new game that takes place far in the future from ME3 and not only have all the species have recoverd from the reaper invasion but with all that reaper tech they become even more advanced and can repair the mass relays.

However, the only reason people (at least myself) want to continue playing as Shepard, is that I want to continue interacting with my old squaddies. Regardless what happens, I want to continue having Tali, Garrus and Ashley in my crew. Shepard himself is expendable. If they replace Shepard, I'll just create a clone of my current Shepard, regardless of what his new name is, and continue "my" romance with Tali.
I want BW and EA to have this absolutely clear for themselves: whether the old squadmates are included in ME4 will make the difference between me preordering ME4 überduper Specter edition with a yard long model of the Normandy SR-3 (which I wouldn't even have space for in my tiny apartment) for 500€, and me waiting for the reviews, and then maybe despite really good ratings waiting until I can buy it from the bargain bin... perhaps me not buying it at all (I've had a 360 for over two years and I still don't own a single Halo or Gears of War installment).

2) There is no ground for new story left. Reapers was Absolute Evil, like Joker in Batman franchise and they was foundamental for the whole story. They were connect the whole universe by huge little-known prehistory, technologies and even origins of races in first drafts of scenario.
Only one person can be as dangerous as Reapers and that is The Illusive Man, we all know that. Even after Reaper's extinction he can renew the cycle by building a new Reaper. Also he is more concrete villain, than Reapers and also more tragic. He is already indoctrinated for decades and even didn't noticed. Large open space for new series and great connecting link between Shepard's story and new chapter in Mass Effect Universe.
But Bioware killed The Illusive Man, They lost every escape routes. And that's a very big problem. I really want to come back in this wonderful world, but I can't with this endings and poor quality of the whole Mass Effect 3. When everyone can see, that game was made in a rush, when facial animation is worse than in previous two games and important scenes just have not enough time length, it's a bad sign.
Also, I will never believe any review from the big sites, which was written before author even finished the game (saw the ending in our case).

And the ME seeting.. it's just screaming for an MMO or the likes of it.
Plenty of milk on this cow yet, and I'm sure Electronic Arts... oh, pardon, "BioWare" will be most interested in squeezing it out until it's fubar.

So, to contemplate the continuation: Yes. I definitely agree this isn't the End of Mass Effect. But if there's to be any kind of continuation from what we have now, a blundering boatload of patching and medi-gel will be needed.

FYI, in interviews we've seen that Bio's writers were surprised to learn that anyone would think that systems with relays were destroyed at the end of ME3. Apparently it never occurred to them that anyone would interpret the ending the way you did.

Why would they be surprised? Did they not see the explosions?

Honestly, I saw the ending the way Bio expected us to. It wasn't until I came here that I discovered people were thinking that Bio showed us Earth being saved only to blow the planet up two minutes later.

I also would like a new trilogy with a completely new cast of characters, though an occasional cameo from Liara would be great. It would be nice to see where her life goes. Who knows, maybe one of the squadmates could be Liara and Shep's child if it's set far enough in the future. There's obviously some logistics to work around, but stranger things have happened.
