It was probably easy for most of you to do but for me it was insane. I was a drell so that meant that I was basically a one hit/shot death. It wasn't solo.

To be fair, I can vouch that I've seen very low level players win on Gold and come in first place by a strong margin. Heck, just today I was playing my recently promoted (for the weekend event) Asari Vanguard on Gold, and I lead the second place player by 40,000 points as a level 8 (everyone else was level 16-20)
Simply having a good gun/equipment and knowing how to use it is enough to be more effective than most pub players, straight from level 1. After beating your first Gold match at level 1, you'll be level 8, at which point you can fully upgrade a standby power (like, say, Stasis Bubble) and grab the first coupla points in Fitness and Training. Win again and you're level 13. The gap closes pretty quickly.
