Hi,
I bought the digital deluxe version of ME2 from Amazon.com a few days ago. I activated the key on Origin and it downloaded an installer, with a folder inside marked 'disc 1' (shouldn't there be two?).
Once the download was complete, the progress bar in Origin changed to a "Ready to install" button. I clicked this and an installer launched... it asked for language, save location, shortcuts etc. and then right when it should have installed, it said "please insert disc 1."
I don't have a disc. I have the Origin download. But I do have this folder in C:\\ProgramData\\Origin\\DownloadCache\\{ email address } marked "Disc 1." So is there anything I can do? I presume this issue has been encountered before...
Installing ME2 via Origin - digital download but it asks for a disc

I only bought the regular edition and never got that issue however when it asked for insert disc 1, did it also show an option to let you browse through the folders? If so, try that.
If not, the only thing I can think of is that it may be a corrupted installer. To remedy that, delete all game installers in Origin and download again. Before doing that, however, see if you can contact EA and Bioware customer service to see if they have another solution to this 'cause technically you are not suppose to be asked to insert another disc when playing a digital download game.

Resolved:
It seems the download is easily corruptible (and not just for me). If one of the main RARs is downloaded incorrectly, the installer will throw up a 'data error.' If one of the other files is corrupt, it will ask you to 'insert disc.'
If you get either of these errors, then *back up* your installation files, delete them from C:\\ProgramData\\Origin\\DownloadCache, and download them all again.
Why back them up? Because then if the installer fails again next time - say, halfway through extracting 'movies.rar' - you can copy the movies.rar file across from your first attempt and see whether that one works. Hopefully, between the files from your first and second downloads, you'll have a working version of everything.
In my case I didn't find this all out until I'd already downloaded it twice (with a corrupted rar). Thankfully the third time through everything downloaded just fine and I didn't need to do any messing around. It may have helped that I downloaded the whole thing in one session, with no pauses.
I hope this helps anyone else having problems installing with Origin. Personally, I'll be enjoying playing my games all over again - and then going on to Mass Effect 3! (yes, I'm late. I'll still have fun.)
Zonnex, thanks for your help.

EA's downloads are far more easily damaged than normal, and wireless routers seem to be a special nemesis of EA's downloader. Hardwired routers seem to be far more successful.
