For mainly those who are disappointed or upset about ME3- ()

I myself used to be very invested in DAO, I think I lost that investment in the Dragon Age series when they brought on "internet" celebrities like Felicia Day into the franchise, so when I started playing DA2 for the first time, I wasn't so much angry, as it was the final last few drops to put out a candle of hope.  (I still never actually finished DA2, but I can't bring myself to sell it either. Perhaps I'm lying to myself thinking I'll finish it someday.)

I'm working on a bigger piece of review for ME3, but just to suffice for this thread, ME3 was a larger, and more subtler letdown, in a way that I realized how unsatisfied I was at the grand end to the trilogy days after having finished it.

Seconds after finishing ME1, I immediately rushed into a 4 hour session of NG+.    Even with ME2 and Termy the Terminator, I still went into NG+ after watching the ending, wondering what the end mission would look like if I was a lazy incompetent commander. And then ME3.

ME3 was a larger letdown than DA2 because of the scripted background conversations in place of ALL full dialog side missions/quests.

Which is it for those of you who played through both?

ME3 was the bigger letdown by far. Well, I'll expand on that .. the last few minutes of ME3.

I was one of those weirdos who preferred DA2 to DA1.

@OP:
Why do you think that ME3 should be a letdown for every player? Honestly, i love ME3, but i hate DA2.

I liked DA but it wasn't near as good as ME IMHO. So ME3's ending was the biggest letdown.

I quite liked DA2. ME3 was a bigger letdown because it was so good up until the end, DA2 at least was consistent.

DA2 wasn't a big letdown for me because I had no expectations. I didn't follow the news, I didn't know the party members and to be honest, I don't think DAO was a great game to begin with. I liked DA2 well enough. I liked the storyline and the new combat, but I'm also not blind to its many flaws, including lazy level design and oversimplified design overall.

I followed ME3 from beginning till the end. I read the Twitter and known features thread and also many interviews. The problem with Mass Effect 3 is that I felt there is less in it than the previous 2. You get sidequests by simply listening to Traynor and exploration gives you only fetch quests, which was to me the biggest disappointment. Driving the Mako in ME1 and scanning planets in ME2 wasn't ideal, but at least it gave me a sense of satisfaction and the galaxy feels like a big place.

I expected Mass Effect 3 to be better than the previous 2 games, but it wasn't. It's a great game but there's too much missed potential and I believe the game could have used an extra couple of months development time.

ME3. The game is awesome except for the ending - which is, to me, the most important part. It's supposed to be the culmination of everything. 95% of the game you're like "man this is the best game ever!" then you get to the 5% and you end up confused like "wtf just happened? Where did the awesomeness go?"

As for DA2...it never happened. I suppose that's why I wasn't as mad back then. I just stopped caring about DA2. I don't really care about Hawke or any of the characters except for DA:O characters.

DA2 was for me. To me the whole game was kind of boring. Just spent the whole game spamming buttons and going to the same room over and over. Didnt care much for the Characters. Not a bad game, just wasnt that engaged.

ME3 while the endings make me scratch my head, and there are few other annoying bits, the game as a whole is solid and I enjoyed it.

DA2. ME3 was 99% solid. DA2 was not consistent at all. It felt out of place--much like the end of ME3. I read all the books and the comics, it all throws back to Origins. Plus, I killed Anders. Stay dead.
I love both series...genuinely though. On it's own DA2 was fine, but not when mixed with the rest of the "lore".

I really enjoyed playing DA:O DA2 was imho just a Hack n Slay with no real story behind it. Since ME1 the series took a long way down to become a silly TP Shooter instead of an Action RPG. ME1 felt huge. ME2 was more into the Shooter action and in ME3 i felt completly like in a TP Shooter. So to be honest both games for me are a big letdown.

I loved DAO so much - more than I think I love ME at the moment, actually - but DA2 killed my enthusiasm for the franchise. For me, DA2 was bad throughout. ME3 was brilliant until the last few minutes, and seeing as I subscribe to the indoctrination theory, I actually like the endings. Just a bit upset with the lack of follow-up explanation. Unless they're not a hallucination used for metatheatrical indoctrination of the player. In which case, I loathe them.

But ME3 is still miles ahead of DA2 in quality.

DA2 was pretty average from the start and didn't really have peaks or troughs associated with it - it just meandered slowly through the fields of mediocrity. That meant that it was a little disappointing but from the moment I started the game I knew it wasn't going to be great.

ME3 though does have peaks and troughs, some of the peaks are very high and some of the troughs are really very low. When you sit there playing a game made by people who so obviously know what they are doing and so obviously have an excellent creative vision, it is far more frustrating that they fall short of what they are quite obviously capable of producing.

So ME3 was much more of a letdown, but DA2 was a worse game.

For me DA2 was just bad right the way through but I didnt have high expectations as the demo I downloaded pretty much summed up the whole game. ME3 is great right up to the last ten minutes of drivel. Bioware should be deeply ashamed that the signed off on an ending that bad.

I expected more out of ME3 than I could possibly expect out of DA2, even compared to DAO/A.

So... that makes ME3 the most disappointing compared to DA2. The thing is DA2 isn't the finale of the DA trilogy, ME3 was the finale to a grand trilogy, that's pretty much why, expecting "everything to happen" in ME3 was too much to ask for. Both literally, and figuratively. I know it was unfeasible for the developers, but I did still expected considerably more content and polish to the existing content in ME3 than what we do have.

I feel ME 3 was the much bigger letdown, simply because it made so very sure to show me, that for all my struggles, for all my efforts in the previous 2 games, there is nothing to show for it. Everything explodes, everybody dies. And if Shepard dies, there's no one to even bury her, and the only people who might be able to mourn her don't even know if she's really dead.

I was reasonably invested in DAO, but then they changed the art style for DA 2, introduced just about a whole new cast of characters, so it felt more like a new game than anything else(although I hated how most of your choices affected nothing, again). The ending left a bad taste in my mouth, but not nearly one as bad as ME 3 did.

DA2 wasn't that good to begin with, but ME3 really was good and had great moments, but the endings totally ruined it for me, so in the end, the bigger letdown was clearly ME3, even so it was better than DA2 for like 99% of the game.

ME 3 had great characters, DA2 had Fenris
ME 3 had hard choices that effected entire races, DA 2 had a pirate that either stayed or left
ME 3 had stunning vistas of far off worlds, DA 2 used the same dungeon back to front about 20 times.
