To me DA2 was ok but the problem was the hero.

Hawke was a joke compared to the Warden and that is why is disliked the game.

ME3. I didn't mind DA2. It was just repetitive.

I rather liked DA2. It's not particularly hard, and they could have reused a bit less of the scenery, but I didn't really care. The storyline was quite decent and I had a good bit of fun, especially once I found out about spoofing your own hybrid classes within the command line :D

Wish I could do the same in ME3, actually make a class that fits my style of play, without so many junk skills.

Oh and ME3 ruined a franchise. No contest.

For mainly those who are disappointed or upset about ME3- ()

I myself used to be very invested in DAO, I think I lost that investment in the Dragon Age series when they brought on "internet" celebrities like Felicia Day into the franchise, so when I started playing DA2 for the first time, I wasn't so much angry, as it was the final last few drops to put out a candle of hope.  (I still never actually finished DA2, but I can't bring myself to sell it either. Perhaps I'm lying to myself thinking I'll finish it someday.)

I'm working on a bigger piece of review for ME3, but just to suffice for this thread, ME3 was a larger, and more subtler letdown, in a way that I realized how unsatisfied I was at the grand end to the trilogy days after having finished it.

Seconds after finishing ME1, I immediately rushed into a 4 hour session of NG+.    Even with ME2 and Termy the Terminator, I still went into NG+ after watching the ending, wondering what the end mission would look like if I was a lazy incompetent commander. And then ME3.

ME3 was a larger letdown than DA2 because of the scripted background conversations in place of ALL full dialog side missions/quests.

Which is it for those of you who played through both?

Both disappoint. But I have to give DA2 as the bigger let down.

DA2 didn't work. It was a rushed, buggy, broken, and mismanaged mess. Patches eventually (although very slowly) made the game more playable by fixing game breaking bugs but the large problems in plot, the ending, and the terrible levels and gameplay mechanics could not ever be fixed.

ME3's a really good game for most of its run time. And it has some of the best scenes in the series in it. ...and then it loses its damned mind and you feel nothing when the credits roll. Except sitting there confused and dazed for a moment before anger rises from the pit of your stomach.

DA2. I hated what they did to the gameplay, and the maps were boring and repetitive. Story was ok though, and that's the only reason I was able to stomach two playthroughs of that dreck.

ME3 was awesome, weird bugs notwithstanding, and even if the ending wasn't as stellar as it could be, I liked it.

ME3. The biggest problem with DA2 was repetitiveness. The story in that at least makes sense, the endings make sense, even if people didn't like it. I might not know where Hawke and Co. are, but I know they went on the run together before whatever happens next happens, and what the basic state of Thedas is.

mass effect 3 a letdown? the ends, of course, but the game itself was brilliant. The inmersion, the base of the whole saga, is at its best in the third chapter. So where is the letdown?

Dragon Age 2, on the other hand...

Not sure how this is even a debate.

For me it's DA2 by a mile. ME3 ended with a whimper and had a few flaws and disappointments like day1 DLC, but you can't deny the effort put into the game. Stunning visuals, large galaxy to explore, multiplayer is pretty good. It's a good game

DA2 on the other hand.....clearly a rush job. A single boring city, repeat areas and dungeons, an even MORE disappointing ending(imo), and almost a completely different game than its predecessor.

Whatever your feelings on ME3, at least it was mass effect. DA2 would have probably been better received if it had a different name. To me, DA:O still doesn't have a sequel

ME3 was a huge betrayal, while Dragon Age II felt like cotton candy in my brain.

I don't even remember disliking DA2 ending much, guess I wasn't that invested or it was just a bad ending. Where ME3, it's not just bad, it totally condradicts itself and ruins itself AND the first two games. So not even Close, ME3 ending was the worst imo.

DA2 was disppointing, but not as much so as ME3. Then ending of ME3 was supposed to be, according to Bioware, the "culmination of all our choices made throughout the trilogy". Instead we get 3 endings basically the same where Glowing Blue Boy asks us to pick what color we want the relay explosion to be.

Not to say that DA2 was golden, it had a lot of issues too. For PC, the combat was broken. No tab-targeting meant I had to keep pausing, select new target, unpause, repeat. The numerous reused maps got old quick. Too much scripted story points, such as Anders tac-nuking the chantry when I was negotiating with the Templars/Magi (could of strangled him). The whole story taking place in Kirkwall was rather a let down from DAO where you spanned an entire nation with various environments.

Course DA the franchise could be redeemed in DA3, while ME as it stands now is pretty much ruined by the awful, confusing, pre-scripted ending of ME3. The finale of a trilogy is like the series finale of a tv show, it is the most important part as it has to not only bring closure to the story of that individual installment, but of the entire franchise as well. The current ME3 ending failed on both.

Remember people: HOLD THE LINE

I enjoyed DA2, personally. I don't get all the hate it receives. Mass Effect 3, on the other hand.... I have a problem with it because the devs promised us wildly different conclusions and they did not deliver.

I enjoyed them both. Still working on finishing DA2 though... got it a few days ago... but so far so good. But I must admit that Bioware could of done more for both the games, they both felt kind of rushed.

Even with ME3's ending, to me, DA2 was the bigger letdown. Why? Because when I started to play DA2, I was under the impression the game will span 10 years and I will feel the affect of time. After playing it, I did not feel 10 years passing at all. The game just told me so, and that wasn't enough for me.

ME3 ending sucked and the majority of the fans agree, but ME3 wrapped a lot of plot points from past games and it fulfilled the feeling of the trilogy. In my opinion, ME3, with the other two games, is better than DA2.

I actually enjoyed parts of DA2. My avie kind of gives that away, I think.

By far ME3 is the greatest disappointment I've ever played, and I've been playing vidya since I could talk.

I loved DA:O, and I didn't expect much out of DA2 because of what I read about it prior to release. I was pleasantly surprised by a little bit of it (I really liked most the characters, except for Fenris, who was pointless), but for the most part, it was as crappy as I expected.

I had very high expectations for ME3. Screwing up the endings so bad was a huge let down.

Hey now! Felicia Day is pretty good, tyvm. Not a skank  *cough Chobot*. And def a good to really good VA. Veronica in New Vegas was one of my regular companions, and I thought she hit just the right stride between sarcasm and being genuine. And there's no way that Dragon Age 2 could be worse than Mass Effect 3 was, unless Hawke had just started pooping in his hand and throwing it at people.

Oh, Marauder Shields. Why didn't I listen...

Most definitely DA2. ME3 has a relatively shoddy intro and a horrible ending, but the rest of the game is solid across the board, and I daresay the best Mass Effect game to date. DA2 was decent at its best (mostly the characters of Varris, Aveline and the Arishok, Bioware's best villain since Jon Irenicus) to mediocre (most of the game) to godawful (plot of Act 3, recycling ahoy, the horrible, horrible prologue).

Definitely ME3. I knew almost the minute they started marketing DA2 that the game would abandon what made DA:O great. "Press a button and awesome happens," indeed. It lived up to te expectations by sucking, so I can't honestly say I was disappointed. ME3, though, I expected it to be good. What we saw of it before release looked great. Even worse, it actually was good... up until the last ten minutes. Then it not only destroyed itself but the entire series. I cannot recall a bigger disappointment, not just in games, but in any form of media.

ME3 was the bigger letdown because it was so much better in quality overall. You know the saying... the higher you are, the farther you fall.
