DA2 was just not a very good game overall, so the terrible ending didn't really surprise or bother me that much.
ME was amazing just until the last 15 minutes, it was really shocking to see how they screwed up THE MOST important part of the game THIS MUCH.
It just boggles my mind how anyone at Bioware could possibly be fine with this horrible ending after they've done such a good job with the rest of the game.
ME3 and DA2: Which was a bigger letdown for you?

ME3. It's the contrasts: the series up until the ending (including the majority of ME3) was so good that the ending felt like a soaring balloon being popped.
DA2 wasn't such a sudden shock. True, it was inferior to DA:O, but it was still a really good game with some great moments with the characters. The ending also, while disappointing, at least wasn't the conclusion to the whole Dragon Age story arc unlike ME3's ending.
If you asked me which was the better game, then of course ME3, but which was the bigger letdown I'd say ME3 as well.

ME 3: RPG elements, such as quest system and dialoge system was utter rubbish, and the horrific ending...
DA 2: All 3 acts took place at the same places... unacceptable. Again, the RPG feeling was cut down in favor for the combat.
However, the combat system in DA 2 was enjoyable, i played it through 3 times in total, plus i liked the DLCs, while i feel no desire to replay ME 3.... so the answer is ME 3.

ME 3 by a long shot.

I'd say ME3 was the bigger let down.
The ending to DA2 didn't kill the franchise and it was left open for a sequel.

Both were fantastic games to me.
ME3 is definitely the better game though. There is no denying this.
Neither really let me down. Well, DAII did. I still prefer it over DAO.

ME3 was fantastic until the ending, but the ending kills the franchise.
DA2 was pretty meh all the way through, but at least they'll get to try and fix it with DA3.
I just don't see a ME4, not one that I'll recognize as ME.
It kind of hurts to say that ME3 was the bigger letdown, considering how much I enjoyed the journey (ME3 is vastly better than DA2).
But with the ending just puts a sour taste on the whole ME franchise, which is why I have to say that ME3 was the bigger letdown.

Not even close for me. ME3 by far was the greater disaster.
Like the OP, I loved DA1, but still have never finished DA2 (it has been sitting on my hard drive since release). The story in DA2 I suppose is not overall as compelling to me as ME's story arc is.
The ME series however had me hooked from the get-go. Tho I loved DA1, it couldn't hold a candle to ME1 or ME2 for me personally.
99% of ME3 is gaming magic also. It's that last 1% finale - the important climactic moment to the trilogy that enables the player to finally find final catharsis - that utterly fails as narrative art thereby stigmatizing the entire series.
I have not finished DA2, but it seems from my observations that the DA2's ending was merely bad, but not actually a failure in an narrative artistic sense. Even if DA2's ending was also a story-telling failure, I don't think it could carry the same level of epic impact that flows from the ME trilogy's ending failure.

Never played DA2 (though I LOVED DA:O and DA:A) because of the fan response. I'll get around to it one day, but I'm sure h*ll not buying it new.

I could enjoy DA2 if I really tried hard enough. Some of the characters were likable, and the ending, though flawed, provided closure.
No matter how hard I try, I cannot appreciate ME3's ending. It's atrocious. ME3 was, by far, the bigger letdown, ending-wise.

ME3 was the larger let down for me. DA2 was okayish but properly a worse game, however it didn't ruin DAO for me. ME3s awful end did ruin not only itself, but ME1 and ME2 as well.

Mass Effect 3 is the biggest let down I have ever known in video games, movies, and books alike. It has ruined the Mass Effect series for me.
Plenty wrong with DA2, but I was not as let down as most.

While I enjoyed Dragon Age 2, I never really was able to play through DA:O, so I didn't have quite the same degree of attachment as many other folks to the world. I had a few problems with it, the largest being the relatively static nature of the city, the recycling maps, and the abrupt ending.
ME3 was much more of a letdown, as I was much more involved and the game was supposed to be a conclusion, not a bridge.

ME3.
I was already going into DA2 with expectations that it would'nt live up to DA:O. However, the cookie cutter level design annoyed me so much I never finished it so I can't even comment on the DA2 ending.

I enjoyed Dragon Age 2, and I enjoyed Mass Effect 3 until the end. The end is bad. I think I less disappointed, because I only started playing Mass Effect 2 until two months before Mass Effect 3 came out. I wasn't wait long for a big ending.

although there is
always room for improvement (no mako or drivable vehicles what so ever
>_>)ME3 is still my fav game of all time, the first 39 hours and 50 minutes of Mass effect
3 was the most fun I’ve had playing a video game. The endings were god awful
and the fact I love the ME franchise as much as I do only made the pain worse
as for DA, I don’t like fantasy games

ME3 was a bigger letdown to me. OVerall it's a great game albeit with flaws. DA2 was a pretty good game, even though I didn't really like the new direction combat took and the ending, while not what I was hoping for, was fitting to the DA world and the DA2 game in general. ME3's ending, however, kinda ruined single player for now. MP is fun, though I would enjoy some PvP action.

They were both pretty good, though there were a lot of recycled locations which got a bit weird at times in DAII
