Bioware's misstep with Tali's face has far larger consequences.

So all of the Talimancers out there (including me) now know what is finally under the mask of everyone's favourite Quarian.

Long story short you don't actually see it on her, you see it on a photo of  her. And its a photoshopped stock image.

Now I'm sure that they would have had the appearance of the Quarians nailed down early on in the franchise, but that isn't what this is about.

Specifically unveiling Tali's face also unveiled the Quarian people's mystique. I mean she is the literal face of the Quarian people.

The problem with that is that due to an unsatisfying and lazy job on handling Tali's face, they've accidentally created a problem with the other Quarians as well.

In actual fact I think it completely countermands the descriptions of Quarians by others as well.

Grunt mentions that a Quarian takes effort to stab, as you have to twist the knife through their plates first.

Javik says that even back then Quarians were regarded as very attractive, possibly more so then the Asari.

Also doesn't make sense once you look at Tali herself.

behind her visor, she has glowing eyes, might be because of the visor but we don't know. She also has some very sharp features to her. And doesn't appear to have long hair either.

Sorry I'm just saying that someone missed up bigtime at Bioware. They better not the second time.

I thought she was sexy looking, I hope that if they ever decide to animate them in a future game that they look more interesting though. IMO the picture was a little vague, which is a good thing.

Seriously, since this was the last installment, it wouldn't have hurt for them to show us Tali without her helmet, smiling on Rannoch and talking to Shepard instead of a lazy pic when she dies.

Though I didn't mind the picture. I hated the fact for the very reasons huntsman brought up.

Well considering that the in-game Journal couldn't have a filter and ended up a disorganized mess after two years of development, I'm not sure how we'd have ended up with an actual modeled and animated Tali face at any given point. I mean there's limits. Ok ok... the guys working on the GUI, Journal and whatnot are most likely not the people responsible for modeling, animating and texturing characters of the game. At least they took the time to give a canon look to Protheans, model, texture and animate one.

Hmmm... wait, maybe they should have sold Tali as a DLC instead, we might have had what we wanted that way.

She was sexy, until you realized that it was a poorly photoshopped stock photo.

Seriously, BioWare? What the hell happened there?!

Who tokk all these ideas, the endings and lazy as **** pictures and went: 'Yeah, that's a great idea. I mean the fans will love to speculate!'...over if you were just tired or insane.

I have no problem with Tali's face, or the Quarian concept for that matter, they were always meant to look very human-like. Miranda's face is also taken from a real model, and she's fine.

Sure, they could have shown us a real ingame face rather than the picture, and that's one thing I hope they will ammend via patch/DLC. When Tali's face was unknown, we could think Bioware's policy was to keep it a secret to keep that magical mystyque around her. But now the secret is no more, and with so many Tali fans it's only fair that a little effort is put into that.

Afterall, there are hundreds of ingame faces and models for all kinds of races in ME3. I can't buy that making Tali's unarmored/unhelmed model would be too much work or schedule-straining.

Bioware missed the most obvious opportunity to show us Tali's face, when she takes of her mask on Rannoch. They could have made a very good moment awesome with this, but they didn't.

There are many things that bother me about that photo.

- When was it taken
- Where was it taken
- Why is she not wearing an environmental suit
- Why is she wearing cotton/woolen fabric
- Why does she have nail polish on
- Here fingers are to close together
- How does that hair fit into her helmet

There maybe more, but they are the first that came to mind.

Maybe it isn't tali maybe she found a really old image from 170 years ago and edited it and pretended to be something shepard wanted.

The part I don't understand is if they were going to use a human picture why they didn't just use Ash Sroka? All other female love interest's face are base off of their voice actor's looks

It was lame and rushed, but I don't really care. If that's what they intend Quarians to look like, then I don't care if they take the picutre from Getty Images.

I am well versed in Photoshop myself, so I consider this photoshopped Getty image as very badly done... especially the hand is so damn ugly... the whole picture is a candidate for Photoshopdisasters.com.

For my very own headcanon, I prefer this fanmade picture from deviantart .  It´s a great deal better than the shopped picture!

If some **** hadn't ruined it for everyone and let it be known it was a photoshop, would you give a damn. I think it was done really well and handled perfectly.

I think I see where the OP is going. It'll be more difficult now to render a face for Tali if that were ever to become an option in the future (LI DLC)

And please please please....not that starfish face pic.

ugh I hate that design. Its thrown around here all the time. Those head flap shapes are too reminiscent of the Asari/Drell/Turians in my opinion, and I much prefer a much more human model for the Quarian. I like the idea that there is an alian race out there that humans can relate to when it comes to appearances.

I'd say this popuar fan art is a lot closer to what I would prefer Tali to look like.

The whole Quarian species was trashed to give the talimancers a bit of quick fanservice.

Nice going Bioware.

No matter who likes which design better, I think we can sum this up as: Still a better ending ... whoops... design for Talis face ;)

If that is supposed to be fanservice, I don't want to see, what it looks like, when Bioware wants to ****** its fans of...oh wait, I did at the end of ME3.

When ME2 was released in 2010, there was so much fan art with Tali in this forums, it was breathtaking. A lot of good ideas, how she could look under that mask, some more human, some more alien, but all were creative and then Bioware comes up with a badly shoped stock picture... after the ending, this was probably the second most insulting thing about ME3.

Yup, they locked themselves into how she looks like and as such how Quarians generally look like.

Now revealing their face is not automatically a bad thing. But if you did it via photoshoped stock footage you effectively set that as the overall look they have.

However perhaps they don't care because this is indeed the last story in Mass Effect universe chronologically. No sequals or anything. I am not saying the killed the franchise but the probably not interested in doing any follow through. Only prequals, spin-offs, or set so far in the future it is not the same setting anymore with different aliens.

Or maybe they are ending the franchise all together after the 'DLC phase', who knows!
