Talis face is a no-win situation for Bioware. You have a character that people love solely on her personality without any idea what she looks like. Everyone has already developed their own personal look for her in their minds. There is no way for them to reveal how she looks without upsetting someone.

I honestly envisioned them as a sort of 'Satyr' like people anyway, so showing a fairly human top half doesn't really kill the vision for me. IMO, people having lived their whole lives encased in suits should not actually come out of them looking "pretty" right away. Ever see what your skin looks like after getting a cast taken off?

The main thing that threw me off which can't really be explained away by ~ooh blurry photography~ was how much HAIR she had. Humans are the only race in Mass Effect that I can remember who have hair on their heads (as we know it). Is there a physiological explanation/theory for why quarians have hair? Because I can't really.. think.. of one..

Those head flap shapes are too reminiscent of the Asari/Drell/Turians in my opinion, and I much prefer a much more human model for the Quarian. Too true. Though I think we can all agree that all would be forgiven if only they modeled Tali's face an showed it to us in game, no matter where the inspiration for it came from.

Oh that is gorgeous. I was sad that Quarians are basically humans with 3 fingers and glowing eyes. When I saw Katy perry's ET video, I thought "ugh I bet that's what they are going to make Tali look like. A human with deer legs". Javik said that even primitive Quarians were considered attractive and they are an emotional people so I was expecting a lot more then some sun glare photo with a mangled hand.

No, because I guarantee if they would have made her look like some ugly alien in that photoshop the rage would be x100.

Liara's face model and voice actor are not the same, if I recall correctly.


Besides, it's not like Tali's face comes from some unknown girl from the internet. Hammasa Kohistani was Miss England 2005 (the first Muslim to hold that title). She is damn beautiful. And it fits the "Ayran" vibe I get from the Quarians (Roma people and Southwest Asians).

My only real gripe is that they didn't do a 3-D rendering of the face in the portrait in the game. It would have been nice if all the fans got to see Tali without her mask.

A lot of people right now are complaining about how human she is, but im pretty sure its stated in the codex all the way back in ME1 that Quarians look a lot like humans.

I've pretty much always expected Tali to have hair, maybe slightly pointed ears, techy bits and pieces scattered throughout, regular nose and lips, maybe some strange alien pupils, and slightly pale purple skin.

also im pretty sure the only voice actress whose character is based off of her looks is Yvonne/Miranda lol

Sure, not everyone would have liked it. But if they would have put more effort into it than none at all, people would have acknowledged that. "I personally don't like the way, she looks like, but I can see, that you put in a lot of work and I can respect that." And if it would have been done right, like the revealing scene of Rannoch I mentioned, most people, may they have been Talimancers or not, would have loved it, I'm absolutely sure.

As it is now, it is more like "It doesn't look that bad, but it feels absolutely lazy and insulting, so I don't like it." Now it is not the way, how she looks, that angers people, but the way, she the picture was created.

If they would have cut this boring and completely useless journalist out of the game and put the money, time and effort in Tali instead, they could have achieved great things.

The cheeks I have never liked that one no matter how well they try to make it seem cute. In this version she looks quite ill and sickly.

well I think thats the point. The Quarians are a frail and vulnerable people. But I can see what you mean.

Still at least those cheeks make her look SLIGHTLY alien.

Asari with huge and ugly ear, don't know why so many people like it. This version from your quote is my favorite too, wierd, but in the recent poll almost nobody voted for it.

Just looking at my post there, I should add I didn't want it to sound rude if that's what it came across as, but this is the internet and if you were offended then I am sorry.

But thanks for understanding my point, but to me those cheeks look to be covered in dead skin flakes, the areas around her mouth are purple which look very similar to the texture of bruises. Personally I was on the fence regarding her face, a part of me wanted to see it, but another part just wanted to leave it up to my imagination.

Yea, was never really interested in tali that much. Never romanced her, but its pretty funny when you walk in on her and garrus making out prior to the last mission in ME3. But her voice actor is pretty attractive, dont see why they wouldnt just use her..

Off topic - just found out that adam Bladwin voiced Kal'Reegar, WTF!!! Reegar should be worth like 500 EMS points that dude was a F*cking Bad ass.

I can't recall exact topic or poll name, tried to find it with few keywords: "tali's face", "poll face", "favourite tali", etc, but failed miserably.

Actually just to appease the fans they should of just added a face customizer for her. That way we could of made her look exactly as we imagined her.

It would have been better to not show her face at all, that would have tel us keep our own picture of her instead. That's the beauty of her appearance I think.

I never romanced Tali, so I may not be as "into her" as a lot of ME fans seem to be (though I still love her character)... but I had hoped that her face, and indeed the Quarians in general would remain a mystery.

However I can understand why those who romanced her would really want to see her face, and that's why it seems so cheap to have it done in a photo, and a lazy one at that.
