Almost, yes. I don't really care about the stock photo thing either. But the hand was very badly botched.

I have next to no experience in Photo editing, but if I wanted to modify a human hand to show only 3 fingers, I'd try and take out the index finger and the ring finger - not just cut off the smallest two leaving the rest of the hand in a really odd shape.

If that was not the case, Everything would be fine.

Also to the OP: Grunt says, that you have to work the blade, because of the suit. That thing is protective.

Face it, as long as they are going to go ahead with a reveal, There is simply no reason that they couldn't have done so in-person. They took the time to create in-game models for all kind of new characters that hardly anyone cared about (Allers, for one) but didn't take the time to do it with one of the main characters of the entire trilogy.

  

Again, only Talifans cared.  She got full squad status and a full romance.  The rest (Jack, Miranda, Thane and Jacob) got sh!ttcanned. The Talifans crowed about it for 20 pages.  Non-Talimancers don't owe 'em sh!t.  Bioware doesn't owe them anymore than they've already been given.

For the record, I didn't romance Tali, nor is she my favorite character. I am simply using logic based on history. The bigger the reveal, the bigger the attention to detail.

  

See, I'd agree with you here.  But it wasn't a big reveal, because only Talifans cared.  They already got everything they whined for, why should they get it all when the rest of us get screwed?

  
I can guarantee that no matter how many people would 'be upset no matter what', there would be a whole heck of a lot less upset by a physical reveal versus a VERY BAD photoshop.

  

Poor babies.  They got what they wanted.  Well, except most seemed to have wanted the reveal at her idiotic wedding on Rannoch with the birdies singing or something equally stupid.  While she was preggers with some impossible Shepspawn.  They probably would have argued for a month over the colour of her wedding suit.

- I like Talis face
- I like all other LI

 Attack is a interesting choice of word, if you criticise Tali then thats fine, but if you attack her character thats different, its like me going into a Liara thread and saying 'yea this character sucks, why do guys like her'. (Note: Like i said I like all LI, I was using Liara as an example) I'm not criticising her character in any way I'm just attacking her character and her fanbase for no good reason other than I don't like her.

I have been in a few Tali threads and I have seen no arguing at all. All I have seen is a few LI Tali fan with a few non LI Tali fan, talking about her face and what they thought it would/should have looked like.

I think many are annoyed at how lazy Bioware was.

Revealing the face of the quarians was to alot of fans a big deal. Instead of creating a interesting looking humanoid alien they just photoshoped a stock image with a few alterations.
Surely they could of put more effort into it and designed a more memorable race for them to be. Turians, krogan, asari etc etc all have distinctive appearances and although some are very different from humans they embodied them all with character we could relate too.

Well, thanks.  I'm glad you like things.  But Talifans - True Talifans - don't like her:  they ADORE her.  It is, for all intents and purposes, worship bordering on idolatry.  People have burned for less.

Ah, but you don't have to do even that.  Even something mild makes a True Talifan froth.  A critique is, hopefully, an insightful and pertinent incisve analysis of a character.  An attack is malicious and premediated with no further intent other than to rile folks up - if, of course, what is said is untrue.  Nothing I've said is untrue.  Not liking how I say is not my problem.  I'm not responsible for delicate sensibilities.  Buy thyself a nosegay, lest thoust swoon.

I like Liara.  I like Tali.  Her fans are brain-jiggly whenever she is mentioned, though.  You cannot discuss Tali in a rational manner because her fans won't allow it.  You must conform to their image of her or you will not be tolerated.

Then you're not reading the right threads.  Those are threads where the ABOMINATION that has been unleashed on True Talifans is raged against.  Talifans have not been appeased, therefore they are angry.  This cannot be. They recieved 99.999999% of everything they demanded, and they HAVE BEEN SLIGHTED AT THE LAST.  Heads will roll.

The picture is not invalidated for me because it was a photoshopped stock image. However I was disappointed that we didn't get to see Tali's, or any Quarian's, face in game other than that one photo.

What Tali looks like under the mask is fine (Barring the issues of long flowing hair in a lifelong envirosuit...).

I'm even okay with it being revealed by way of a portrait in Shepard's room.

The only issue is the fact that it's a middleschoolers job at Photoshop instead of a 3d model.

I just couldn't process it, so my mind came up with a different idea. It's a joke. Tali's messing with us (Shepard), it's an image she either doctor's herself or its some sort of Quarian-human porn. Actually my theory is that it's some old internet meme a preveted Quarian made when humanity first joined the Alliance and Tali thought it would be a fun retro joke.

Admit it, it makes more sense.

Somewhat agree with the OP, the look is not as good as it could have been. Though once I was shown how little time it took to get the stock photo, and how little time/effort they put into the in-game scene I admit it is a let down.

The idea of throwing together a part of a product with as little time/cost as possible is solid marketing, as long as the buyer doesn't KNOW what a lazy-ass job it was. Everyone does it somewhat, BioWare just did it on an aspect that was far too important and ended up getting caught.

Yeah, this was pretty much my first thought when I learned there was no in-game model of her face.  Better to have a picture than that kind of BAD face-modeling.

I don't mind the photoshopped image, and I think their concept of Quarians is better than any of the fan art concepts I've seen. The problem I have is with the quality of the photoshopping. It is very, very obviously a rush job.

To do it right, they would have to get a model (maybe Liz/Ash Sroka) in, do some practical makeup on her (for the markings and reference markers for the digital effects,) then take the picture and photoshop in a background that looks like Rannoch (maybe New Mexico or Kenya) and the more alien features, like tridactyl hands.

If that had done it that way, no one would be objecting, I think.
