So, who exactly wanted multiplayer anyways?

Much appreciation to people who've clued into the fact that I'm not upset because I dislike Horde Mode/Multiplayer in general. I'm upset because it's taking up valuable real estate in an already overcrowded neighborhood. ME3 needed every free byte of data it could get to wrap up the story proper... and it's almost certain that the multiplayer played a part in the tricolor ending failstravaganza.
Let me just make a wild guess here, you have absolutely no idea how much space MP is taking up on the disk... Am I right or am I right?

I wanted an MP-focused spin-off title set in the ME universe. Does that count?

And let's not forget: Baldur's Gate, the title that put BW on the map, had a multiplayer component. You could play the main story with your friends... Puzzling when people accuse Bioware of going against its roots, but I guess it is easy to overlook things...

I like multiplayer. Dunno. Quite enjoying even now, and the weekend events are just incentives to keep people engaged, effective practice so far. Shoehorned or not, I like the way it turned out. Sure as hell beats the Team Assault prototype it grew out from.
Some people like it. But very very few fans wanted it. And those who did ask for multiplayer usually wante co-op with someone else able to play squadmates in the main campaign.
This...
Horde mode was a blatant cater to COD fans, hell, I have friends who haven't even played the campaign or the first 2 games but play the MP.
Other MP games Bioware put out have co-op MP for the campaign. I was floored that Bioware made a pointless hordemode.

OP and all: I wish you would stop pretending to speak for every Mass Effect fan when you vocalize your dislike of Multiplayer. I have been a Bioware fan since Baldurs Gate (played every title since) and I happen to enjoy the heck out of Multiplayer.

Are you not comprehending that what we got was horde-mode and what you just referenced was co-op MP of the campaign?

The multilayer has like 5 maps only. The enemies and character classes are just variations of the single player.
I enjoy the multiplayer but you guys are giving it too much credit.
Time, money to get it functional, human ressources, although they claim it was a different team.
I would have every bit of understanding if it had been an afterthought - an expansion of some kind. But simply tacking it onto the last part of a well established single player series smacks of Gung Ho and some not so clever marketing ploy.
Ah.....generalizations. Well, going to the bathroom and having a plumber fix the toilets takes money, human resources and all that....so maybe bathroom breaks are worthless too.

And for how little effort it feels they put into it, it works pretty well and is quite fun.

I would rather play as a Garrus-Kaidan-Vega-Liara-Ashley-EDI sidekick for someone else's Shepard. Especially if that hidden Shepard (who I pick but won't play as) gets XP and credits.

I just thought you would apreciate it considerring it doesn't matter if the multiplayer budget/time was miniscule when compared to the single player.
But as long as it fits the stupidly broad "IT COSTED MONEY SO IT WAS A WASTE!!!" viewpoint, then I guess you have the advantage.

So we have had muliplayer in a raw form and only accessable by 1 person since the beginning so why are you crying about it now?

Just so you know if you got the pinnicle station for Mass Effect 1 you would notice ME3 is just the pinnicle station with a few changes.

increased emphasis (EMS unreachable through SP only games plus an achievement blocking people from 100% without online) would be my guess, that and the fact MP is added to everything now regardless of suitabitlity

EA wanted multiplayer, and they're the only people whose opinions really matter.
This^
Bioware said that MP wouldn't make the SP less good, but apparently it did. I wonder how much of the budget went to MP, and the team making the MP could've helped with the SP instead so that the game might've been finished, AND had a good ending that made sense.
Not gonna make this a "the endings suck"-thread, but seriously, I honestly think this game would've been so much better without MP.

Last I checked BioWare did say you can get the good ending with points to spare by doing just SP.Krogangreetings wrote...

I thought it was a horrible decision to put it in but it works well, doesn't take away from anything and anyone who says multiplayer affected the single player is dead wrong.

yeah they did, but many people have data mined the games and pretty much proven you can't

It's been calculated, you can get a good ending, but not *the* best ending without MP.
@Salvatore510
Why is one dead wrong if they say they think MP took away from SP?
Imo it's logical to assume that some manpower and money they spent on the MP could've been spent on the SP. And the SP could use more polish
