So, who exactly wanted multiplayer anyways?

Just so you know if you got the pinnicle station for Mass Effect 1 you would notice ME3 is just the pinnicle station with a few changes.

So we have had muliplayer in a raw form and only accessable by 1 person since the beginning so why are you crying about it now?

increased emphasis (EMS unreachable through SP only games plus an achievement blocking people from 100% without online) would be my guess, that and the fact MP is added to everything now regardless of suitabitlity

Last I checked BioWare did say you can get the good ending with points to spare by doing just SP.

yeah they did, but many people have data mined the games and pretty much proven you can't

For what it's worth....to show I'm not a Bioware troll or something:

I actually don't agree with this (multiplayer).  Having multiplayer is one thing (and it's fun), but linking it to the SP and alienating some ppl is not how you gain/keep fans.

Ah yes. How good it would be if we got story co-op instead of this. Replace the useless AI characters with people who can actually fight, AND no resources spent on million different characters and unlockables, galactic readiness, online only and the rest.

I would rather play as a Garrus-Kaidan-Vega-Liara-Ashley-EDI sidekick for someone else's Shepard. Especially if that hidden Shepard (who I pick but won't play as) gets XP and credits.

Story coop would have stunk. Like I want to to play the SP game as the sidekick. If all I'm doing is being a gun for hire while the real Shep does all the talking then basically what you've described is the current MP.

Well, as a member of the PC master race, I know it was easier for me to get into online than many people (no Xbox Live needed, no PS3 service issues), but I still felt reticent about entering into it, with traditional anxiety over scarily brilliant players often found on online servers. and voice chat. I finally took the leap in order to build up my % readiness, but still anxious. Until I found a lot of other people were the same skill level as me and no-one really used voice chat. At which point I began to really enjoy it. Half a week after finishing the main plot, I'm still playing multiplayer. Great fun.

Only a minority wanted it. The multiplayer would have been okay if it didn't leech development resources and you weren't forced to play it for the "good" ending.

The supposed multiplayer aided ending is not, under any circumstances, what I would consider a "good" or "optimal" ending. It was a stupid easter egg.

Never liked MP, never will. Thus I was not thrilled by the news of MP being a part of ME3; not surprisingly I never tried it, instead I delegated the task to my brother who loves online game to increase my readiness.

Everyone is missing the big picture.

This, what Fontfillmore said, was the aim of EA/Bioware all along......to bring families closer together.

I didn't necessarily want the multiplayer, but the demo (and then the full release) quickly changed that. I love the multiplayer and find it a fun addition to the game.

There wasn't some huge massive movement to add multiplayer, but I do remember quite a few threads with people asking for it, which were soon after populated by people saying that MP will destroy everything Mass Effect stood for; ironic that it was the SP that did that, and the MP is pretty much the only thing I play anymore...

EA most likely, though I can see where it sounded like a good idea at the beginning. Just tried it myself, and must admit that it didn't hold my attention for long. Without a story arc to tie it all together (which is what Mass Effect is all about), its just a bunch of shooting. If I wanted that I'd load up Gears of War.

Bioware alwyas wanted MP since ME1. Just edited some .ini files after reinstalling it, there were lots of MP variables there.

I wanted co-op and multiplayer in the form of PVP. Not Gears of War Horde.

Wow, lots of MP haters here late in the thread. I think it is brilliant how the MP is linked to the SP without too deeply affecting it.

If you don't like it, do more side quests in SP...makes sense to me.

I love it because if you enjoy the Mass Effect universe, you can keep coming back for some more Banshee butt all you want. The mechanics are easy and the community is actually very nice to play with - no one talks, but kicks are rare and most people go out of their way to save you.

Why anyone would complain about this added feature is beyond me. Sorry, but I saw no reasonable arguments against it - those that say that things were rushed do so without any hard evidence. (not holstering weapons in SP does not mean the product was rushed)

R

(P.S.  I studied a bit more and now see that Galactic Readiness is a modifier on total military strength which has a very direct impact on effective strength.  Most people think that there is no way to match the EMS with SP alone.  I have not finished the game yet, so I can't comment.)

I had no interest in multiplayer at all but i'm actually enjoying it a lot . Yes Gears does it better but i  prefer the Mass Effect universe . I would prefer if it didn't have any impact in the sp campaign simply because people shouldn't be forced to play it in order to get a "better" ending.

I didn't want it, but after actually playing it, I absolutely loved it. MP was great addition, one that's gonna consume as much of my free time as the single-player compaign does.
