Does anyone actually like Vega? Honestly?

Of course, I have to stick with Garrus and Tali as my team, but he's better then the other humans that've been in the series. Of course...seeing that's been a racist, a cardboard cut out, and token black guy, it's not like it's a lot of compitition.

When Bioware decided that 11 squadmates was too many and that they were reducing the number for ME3 so they could focus more on them individually, what made them think adding James Vega was a good idea?
This lunkhead must be the most the most shallow, sterotypical and empty headed character of the entire series. His survivor's guilt backstory is a dud, the 'trying-so-hard-to-be-Hispanic-by-saying-Loco-a-dozen-times-daily' attitude is immediatly tiresome, and his sparring match with Shepard is embarrisingly bad (tho the reinactment Angry Joe does in his review is hillarious). He manages to make Jacob look interesting!
What really irks me when Bioware was debating who was worthy for the very limited seating as a permanant squadmate in what they claimed was "the best game we have every made" they went through the list:
Wrex?.... no. Thane?......no. Mordin?....No. Leigon?......no. Samara?....no. Vega?....yes.
Why?
And now, Vega gets his own anime

Why?
Does anyone actually like this guy?
Not really. He's boring just like everyone thought he'd be. The best thing about Vega is all the flirting with FemShep. But that's because I thought it was refreshing to flirt with someone in a BioWare game and it not mean "OMG we're the most truest of loves in the universe now!"
It was just dumb fun flirting like people do with Vega.
I'd rather have a Garrus anime if anything Mass Effect deserved an anime. James Vega just isn't interesting enough to carry a story. He is ME3's Jacob Taylor. Although, interestingly enough ME1's Jacob Taylor Kaidan Alenko was much better this time around.
And yeah, I wish someone else from ME2 (or Wrex from ME1) had made the cut in the squad instead of some no body marine with a slight death wish.

Actually, BioWare did good on Vega. Kind of thought of him as a Gears of Wars reject (Sorry, son. Your face just isn't square enough), when he was first announced. When I played the game, he actually wasn't nearly as irratiating as I feared. He had some good lines, and the guy that did the VO sounds like he was into his character.
Oh you didn't know?!
Thats Freddie Prinze Jr. maaaaan lol
Yeah he did a good job( better than he did in I Know What You Did Last Summer)

Over all he is kinda funny but not over powering presence wise.

I dunno, Vega wasn't that bad, a lot less annoying then Ash ever was. I never wanted to leave him with a bomb.

We already had the "super assassin" "alien robot" "master scientist" "asari superjusticar" etc... what's wrong with just having some stereotypical human soldier as well?

I don't have anything against the character, really just the concept of the character. Did we really need a brand new character so deep into the trilogy when he doesn't add anything to the story? Javik's inclusion makes sense, but another generic human squadmate? I just thought his addition was unnecessary.

All the Vega haters please take him with you for 1-2 times.
You only left him to rot because he looks like a terrible stereotype but he's actually a bro.
Trust me.
I wish we had him in earlier games instead of Jacob or Kaidan
Okay, get Bioware to fix the ending. Then I will use him a lot on one of my next 2 saves. See a bunch of people saying he's good even though they thought he was a stereotype. Just hard to play the game again like I would have knowing the how the end is, sigh.

He's no Krogan, or Moridin, or Legion. But of all the human squadmates in the series, he's probably the one I liked the best. Then again, I hated pretty much every other human squaddie, so go figure.
You didn't like Jack or Zaeed? I can see disliking Miranda and Ashley and its hard to stay interested in Jacob and Kaidan... but Jack and Zaeed, man! They're almost as interesting as the alien characters!

Which meant we needed some new muscle and I thought James filled in very nicely. His character arc was fine and enough to get a feel for what made him tick, but the best parts were his exchanges with other characters, especially Cortez and Javik. He grew on me as the game went on and I really quite liked him by the end.
