Vega wasn't terrible, IMO, but I had no real interest or need for him. I never took him on missions and would much have prefered an old friend from ME2.

Not to offfend, but I find him an insulting characature of what an "urban latinos" sounds like. I'm Puerto Rican and would have preffered him to use military jargon than the "typical 'nuyorican' slang". Keep the accent but lose the slang, and I'd be more ok with him. As for his insubordinate attitude in several instances...I find that out of character considering that when he first dealt with Sheppard...he was all salutes.

No, I just the the lines we're written to express a strong hispanic heritage and usally those who are closer to their culture have a stronger accent because english is their second language.  And I said usually becauswe that is not always the case.

Again though, English wouldn't be his second language, he's a hispanic american.

As an aside, I hope I'm not coming off as angry or confrontational. This being the interwebs you can't hear my tone of voice. In my head this is sounding like a bantering conversation between friends, with one of us (me) playing devil's advocate and laughing about it. I'm not trying to break your balls for real or anything.

We touched on that a bit.  Some agree some don't, I don't think it was too bad.

He was alright. He had some good/funny lines here and there. So yeah I like him enough, I like the other squaddies more though so he just sits on the Normandy for most of the game..

No it's cool, it beats (lol) beating the dead horse over the endings.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not putting this all on Freddie, and I could be wrong, but the only hispanics I have met were the one's who spoke with a heavy accent, or the one's who you couldn't tell if you just heard their voice.  I guess what it really is, is that to me any way, he sounds like the sterotyped gang members from television.

If I knew him in real life, I probably would like him okay, but we wouldn't hang out. Just no common interests. But he doesn't strike me as a bad person, he struggles with guilt because of his mission with Captain Toni, and he's not so sure of himself that he can't ask for advice regarding the opportunity to join the N7 program. I don't expect everybody to have my exact same personality, so his penchant for card games and fisticuffs isn't a dealbreaker.

When Bioware decided that 11 squadmates was too many and that they were reducing the number for ME3 so they could focus more on them individually, what made them think adding James Vega was a good idea?

Why?

And now, Vega gets his own anime

Why?

Does anyone actually like this guy?

You have to understand that they reduced the squad number because they needed to release their ****ty product.  There is no added feeling to relationships, it's actually reduced in the fact that most squad chatter takes place in real time rather than cut scenes.  Basically, every squadmember you have is a Kasumi/Zaeed DLC character.

You know what, I'm taking that comment about Vega and making a thread. I think that's a good enough topic to require more than just an off comment.

Yes I like him, his dialogue is most amusing and the sparring match was one of my favorite moments in the game (granted I had many favorite moments in it).

Yes, honestly. Sorry to be rude, but that's a pretty stupid question - were you expecting everyone to have the same opinion as you?

He was a much more likable character compared to Ashley and Kaidan.

I like that he's not the meathead everyone thought he wa when his look was revealed. sure he works out and is a little hotheaded, but then again he's nothing ompared to Garrus on the hothead meter and he's a fan favorite. I like that he has respect for Shepard, but at the same time isn't afraid to get in their face and yell, plus his nickname thing is kinda funny and he doens't take it too hard when Femshep puts him on his ass.

He seems really stereotypical but he's a lot more interesting than Jacob.

yes... because i was in the military, and as much as it pains me to admit it... there are alot of soldiers that are really like that.

there are Ashley's and Kaidenss running around, but not nearly as many Vega's... unless you're talking about the sacks of excrement that do nothing but happily sell their souls and gofer for the skipper.

That character, as stereotypical as he is, is what I imagine your typical Alliance marine would actually be like.

Vega's a bro.  Just like Garrus.  Vega and Garrus is the ultimate bro squad.

It's funny. I live in NY, very near NYC and I have many Puerto Rican friends, and one of the reasons I like Vega is that he sounds just like a lot of my friends, lol. Different strokes I guess.

The number of squad mates is perfect in ME3, and James was a decent character.

I liked him. People said that he was pretty boring when playing as male shep, but I play as fem shep so I found him to be amusing XD
... Alas, he had my hopes up as far as being a romance option XP Damn you Vega and your flirting.

No, I think Vega is an idiot. But then again, I find all the human squadmates morbidly uninteresting. Ashley, Kaidan, Jacob, Vega. I have a hard time coming up with who I like the least.

Ones a racist, one complains about migraines, one won´t shut up about having drinks on the citadel, and one´s a trys too hard to be funny kinda guy.

Unlike other squadmates *couch*Liara*couch* he doesnt run into hail of bullets and die in first 10 seconds of a gunfight.
Dont think he has ever died in any missions.
