Actualy i like him much more than all human squadmates since ME1 :D

^ this.

kaiden seemed kind of soft, guess because he was tech.  ashley was all xenophobic and her brand of smart alec i just never took to.

I can't say I loved him, but he didn't bother me at all, which is more than I can say for James/Jack/Kaiden.

I actually think Vega is one of the things they got right.  He was a guy who aspires to be like Sheperd, yet lacks the life experience to do so effectively.  And they manage to develop his character without really pushing others out of the way.

This. Also, I enjoyed his banter on missions. He was fun to listen to.

Yes I like him, Grunt would have been better though.

To me it seems Bioware usually has a lot of trouble creating a liked "male best friend/female love interest" in most of their games. Kaiden wasn't very popular, Jacob CERTAINLY wasn't all that popular....Hell in most of the other games the male lead was pretty bland (Carth, Sky I think was the dude from JE) the only real exception I feel was Allistair.

In short, Vega is like all the others. Easily forgettable.

I'm alright with him, usefully "Kroganish" in battle. Never really comes to mind outside of battle as I usually avoid going to the shuttle bay unless I really have to. In stark contrast to when I'd visit often in ME1 for Ash and Wrex.

I didn't like him or hate him.....i thought his back story was kind of cliche, but i liked his abilities gameplay wise. I really think we have some mental thing where we don't like other humans of our own sex on our own crew....seems like most woman hate ashley, miranda, and most men hate Kaidan/Jacob/Vega.

I never cared that much about him. As soon as more Squadmates were available I rather ignored him and stuck to the ones I knew from the very beginning...excpet for EDI, she's the only new Squadmate since ME2 I think is somehow cool. I like her humour...Image IPB

He seems like an unncessary character, instead of him I could have had Wrex or even Grunt. Or I could settle for a copy of Legion or a Geth Prime.......A GETH PRIME on my ship. How freakn awesome would that be. Or I could have had Kal Yeegar on my Squad. Theres alot of characters that could fill in for Vega.

He just seems like he comes along for the ride.

Had he been a Krogan or a Batarian (with just a few minor tweaks) he would have been awsome and interesting. BSN is racist towards humans!

Vega had a lot of bad rep towards him that seemed to delve on the "unlikable" side with his excessive build, being out of uniform and voiced by Freddie Prince Jr. I gave it a chance, and despite the uniform bit, I did kind of like him. There was nothing grating or annoying about his character, except for maybe some instances where he insisted on calling your character by a different name. For me, that was kind over doing it in the "I'm different!" department.

As a squad mate? I never used him unless I was forced to. No disrespect towards him, I just had way more important characters I wanted to see and develop.

I actually liked Vega. :3 At first, I was confused who this guy was and why it seemed like Shepard and everyone already knew him, but I was willing to let it slide because it didn't seem like an overly important plot point to me.

They are making the anime focused around him, right? I hope they also work on some dlc that give the same information in game, since I don't plan on watching it (after they fix the ending though!)

This will be the umpteenth time to point out that he was modeled after soldiers in War by Sebastian Junger I guess.

I thought Vega was representative of your average soldier. He's a good marine and a nice guy overall. I felt like my Shepard was his mentor and that he was following in her footsteps, mirroring what her experiences must have been like as a young marine before entering the N7 program.

Yes he’s meant to be sort of young and dumb shepherds doing what he always does guiding him in to being a better solder .all of the squad mates have been shaped by shepherds influence the only difference is he’s a young human. Shep 2.0

I liked Vega.

He was down to Earth and a capable soldier. And compared to some of the other whack jobs the Normandy has played host to, Vega was a goddamn beacon of mental stability.

Vega, Javik and EDI should have been the only permanent squadmates. Having Liara and (especially) Tali even on the Normandy, much less accompany Shepard, was more than a little ridiculous most of the time. And even Garrus would have been better served in a LotSB-style series of missions than as a permanent squadmate.

I found a picture of Vega.

I don't hate the guy. I sort of liked him. Just when put against the intelligence center of the galaxy, a sickly space-jew (no insult intended) that drinks whiskey through an emergency induction port, the broseph calibration master, the sole survivor of a species (that hates everything, even birthday parties), and a fembot with black humor--

-- he falls flat. See also: Kaidan, Joseph.

I didn't expect to, but I turned out liking Vega quite a bit. I think he's one of the little things that BioWare got right. It's too bad he's likely dead along with most everyone else after the mass relay explodes.
