There is almost no love for Relic at all in a thread consisting of people who mostly claim to be PC gamers. I must be getting old or something.

ed. Argh--claim was corrected to complain for some reason when I posted this

Not really he best of the best or anything but I want to say Chunsoft. Just because of 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors and it had a great story, that only a game could make work(can not wait for the sequel).

And I guess if you are into them, you can add Dargon Quest V and the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series as reasons why they are a good company.

Never heard of "DARGON Quest V" :P

Although I will comment that the Pokemon games ushered in an era of gaming.

This just shows don't type when you have had a bit too much to drink.=]

And yeah Pokémon is like everyone's first RPG, but I wonder if the Mystery Dungeon games are anyone's first dungeon crawler?

Great Odin's Raven! Your sig--it is madness incarnate.

Also, I feel like while we're mentioning great devs, I should bring up some guys who came out of nowhere and successfully brought one of the greatest franchises ever into the 3D era with style. Props to Retro Studios.

BioWare, especially after the ending of Mass Effect 3.

....

HAHA! JUST KIDDING!

Now for real: The CD Projekt RED is the developer and company that deserves the most respect at the moment. They are working their asses of to deliver a high-quality game and while they're at it, they offer us lots of additional content for their amazing games, FOR FREE! How many developers can say that they gave an expansion and complete overhaul for their games FOR FREE these days? The CD Projekt is working hard ot earn respect. Well, they certainly earned my respect!

5 reasons why CD Projekt RED is the best company ever:

1. They made the The Witcher series, a superior action-RPG which is better than both Mass Effect and Dragon Age.
2. Their story-writing has surpassed that of BioWare a long time ago. The story of The Witcher is deep and mature.
3. The lore and plot of The Witcher series is inspired from one of Europe's best writers ever: Andrzej Sapkowski.
4. They truly listens to their fans, unlike BioWare.
5. They try to improve their video-games with DLC and expansion-packs, ALL ABOLUTELY 100% FOR FREE!

Their games are too difficult. I'm managing to learn Victoria II ... I consider them as luxury games that must have! Crusader Kings II is just in my play list for later ...

Tomonobu Itagaki

He's a freakin' genius. It's a shame what happened, but his new company, once they release the game they've been working on, should be one of the best.

I think Mistwalker is doing a really good job and Hironobu Sakaguchi was Squaresoft

There are many great developers out there. I remember Silicon Knights made some good games, and I hope they can do a comeback. Those I can think of at the moment:

Obsidian
Naughty Dog
Rocksteady
Kojima Productions
Remedy
Suckerpunch
