So browsing around the forums it seems like there are major problems installing and running the editor. Furthermore, when I went to download it from this site, it warned me about possible errors and mentioned that I should wait for the next version.
1) What's the concensus? Should I wait? I'd like to start using it ASAP but if there are too many unaddressed problems I rather wait.
2) Anyone know when the next version will be released?
Install Editor now? Or wait?

No word on when the next version is going to come out.
The toolset is "safe" as long as you are careful not to export any core resources (the IDs are off compared to the main game and can screw up your saved games).

There are ways to fix things if the GUID bug bites you (and it will if you export anything from the Toolset). The problem is, the way to deal with it is often quite technical, or, involes an entire reinstall of the Toolset and Database.
On that front, there is some hope on the horizon, but beware the message of the post; it is not for the faint of heart!
