Engineer was/is ridiculously easy on ME2 and ME3 insanity. That being said, combat is more fun in ME3. Combat is the main reason why I'll keep replaying. However, they need to buff mob AI big time to make it more challenging in SP.

ME3 MP **pug** gold is where the real challenge is for ME3.

Look at it this way, ME2 was harder, sure, but it was definitely more boring. ME3 provides a lot of action and movement compared to ME2.

That's not entirely true. ME3 has better (power) effects - they look and sound amazing. ME3 has also increased the pace of combat. It has become an arcade style of combat, with less focus on strategy and tactics. It looks and feels cool for a while - like DA2 did - but things get rather dull and repetitive quickly imo.

ME 2 on Insanity:
-some gameplay mechanics are totally broken
-even the toughest team can die in one scond in some places
-medkits and ammo are rare
-some enemy has the ability to remove you from cover, when other enemys are shooting at you
-in some cover and places, regeneration stops totally and in this time, you can't defend yourself

ME3:
-some gameplay mechanics are still broken
-but: other mechanics works so good, that everything is simple
-most enemy without barriers
-you can use the cooldown like a cheat, if you use only one pistol

ME2 is harder and this side i like very much. But it isn't a good type of hardness, because weak classes have to camp in cover, until the last enemy is dead. And weak classes have more enemys, because of the crapy spawn system, that a vanguard can stop in some seconds. Harbinger removes you from cover, a drone removes you from cover, a Varren removes you from cover and with your health of a baby you die in one second.
Initially, i thought, that i can play on Hardcore for less need to stay in cover, but sorry, Bioware has destroyed the Hardcore difficulty, removing barrieres from the most enemy, for me it's unplayable, because it's dumb. And all other difficultys are a joke.
In ME3 all things works so good, except from the still crapy cover system, that i miss the learning curve of ME2 and the good feeling, that i have survived the platforms in good Vanguard style. You don't need to learn something, it's not worth to talk about builds, because any build and any team works.
I stoped my Adept run from an imported Shepard, because after two hours, i know, how i make a warp explosion.
Now i'm trying a melee Engineer from the scratch. It's the first time after ME1, that i'm doing this, because in the end, it makes no difference anyway ;-)

Honestly, I'd rather move around than sit behind a wall and shoot at enemies while my allies have to stand wayyyy back because they're inept and stick their heads out only to get shot in the face with a rocket and die.

Of course, I do agree that it was fun to move squadmates - since you're always moving there's not really a need to place squadmates anywhere. But..if they can survive on their own, move on their own.. I really don't see a downside. Maybe there is a little less strategy involved (not like there was a ton to begin with) but at least they're alive so you can use their abilities.

That's fine if you would rather not hide etc... but the bottom line is, I die way fewer times (and I mean like WAY fewer) in ME3 than I did in ME2. Simply put, it's much easier.

All enemies health just needs to be doubled on insanity. That would go pretty far in fixing it. Biotic combos are WAY to strong. I mean one explosion will wreck like 3-4 units. And it's not just biotics, thats just one example.

The weight/cooldown system just breaks everything. All you ever really need in ME is one weapon...and with the new op system you get instant casts.

In ME 2 the most I used was two weapons, AR and sniper rifle for soldiers, sniper rifle and smg for infiltrator, smg for sentinel, smg for engineer. Now it's pretty much just an assault rifle for all classes. SMG's are broken in ME3. Engineers were potent but still a challenge in ME2, but now with being able to carry AR's and having near instant casts, the game is a joke.

ME 3 squad AI is pretty dumb when it comes to pathfinding. I tell them to go to a certain place and they never do. Its been a while since I played ME 2 so I'm not sure if it was the same way.
