Right now I have a grandmaster frost , flame , & lightning rune on my roses thorn dagger but it always seems to pick the flame ones animation , which bugs me because you no longer see the weapon it just gets enngulfed in flames

Plus dragons are highly resistant to fire dmg so it makes it the most inferior of the 3 to boot , so where do I get another grandmaster frost or flame rune at? I notice every merchant seems to sell a grandmaster rune but its of a different sort per store

Being a coup de grace rogue a grandmaster para rune seems viable too , but when I used a master one before it only actually procced very rarely so I think it pales in comparisson to adding 5 dmg a hit , 5 more dmg a hits a big deal when you hit 5 times per second you know

small exploit to get them is buy the ones off bodahn during one of the cut scenes camp location, those are counted as different zones than the normal camp, which means if u buy anything during those cut scene locations, it wont change the stock of the normal ones.

one of the cut scene occur just when u leave lothering when u awake from a nightmare.

You have to craft it.

I cant find it either, Ambassador Cera definitely doesn't have it.  I found a Grandmaster Lightning Rune in the Smuggler's cave in Amaranthine but that was after I initiated the war and Vigil's Keep was destroyed.  When I go back to a previous save, however, the rune is not there.

I think it's from the second merchant you save.

If you finish the Trade Must Flow quest then the merchant in Vigil's throne room will have an updated inventory and the Grandmaster Lightning Rune tracing.

How many merchants do you have to recruit? I've got the guy from the mines in the woods and I saved Lillith. Those neither one of them is in the keep yet.

Here's what I did on playthrough 2. There are several Origins mods that contain merchants that sell all the grandmaster (weapon) runes. If you want to be the dirtiest possible cheater, the "AIS" mod will sell you as much of any rune as you want at no cost. I took over tons of grandmaster runes hoping to make some masterpiece & paragon ones ... too bad I'm still looking for the tracings.

On the flip side, I also looked up in the Prima guide the formulas for making the "specials" and brought over the runes I needed for them at import, so I was able to make some off the bat.

Alas, if they didn't each take up 1 inv. slot, but I've whined about that, plenty.
