There are/have been a number of promotions that promise a code to download the Collector Assault Rifle (CAR for short). This weapon is multiplayer - only; do not look for it in the single-player campaign. These promotions so far have consisted of comics and art books published by Dark Horse Comics, and special ME3 themed gear from Razer.
I'm not going to lie, this rifle isn't the greatest thing in the world. I personally like it, but others have expressed disdain for it. This is less for gameplay reasons and more for completionist collector reasons. Still interested? Read on.
As you might already know, redeeming multiple codes will increase the level of the weapon. The first code gets you the CAR I, the second gets you CAR II, etc. etc. all the way up to level X (10). Furthermore, this is the only way to upgrade the rifle known at this time. No, it is not a random drop. No, it is not a random drop even if you already redeemed a code. My point is: if you want a level 10 CAR, you will need 10 promo codes.
Here's the thing that isn't made clear in the promotional offers: you can only one CAR per promotion/product. Any additional codes redeemed for that product will be permanently lost, as they are irrevocably tied to your account, and will not get you anything in-game. So if you got 10 codes during the Dark Horse Digital "Invasion" promo, you'll only get 1 rifle. 4 Razer Mousepads? 1 rifle. 3 different Razer products? 3 rifles (giving you CAR III).
As there have only been 10 discrete products and promotions, the only way to get a CAR X is to buy all 7 Razer products (which are crazy expensive, and currently out of stock), and have participated in all 3 Dark Horse promos (which have all been over for a long time).
Some people (including myself), bought multiple copies of the same product, not knowing the product limitation. I was lucky: Dark Horse refunded all of my extraneous purchases, and I got to keep my extra codes to boot. Others of you might have extra codes. Still others might have gotten some of the ME3 Razer gear, but don't care for multiplayer. Perhaps those same people are interested only in a promo code for the single player DLC. Some people might have the PS3 version, and are unable to redeem the codes as a result.
As such, I'm starting this thread.

Code Guidelines:
1. THIS OFFER IS CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE ON THE PS3 PLATFORM!!! I don't know whose fault it is. All I know is that these promotions will not get you the CAR on the PS3 platform. Sorry
2. If you own both the 360 AND PC versions of ME3, you WILL get the CAR on both platforms! I know this because this is my current situation.
3. To check which Collector Assault Rifle-related products/promotions you already have, go to:
http://social.biowar...isteredProducts
If it's already there, don't redeem a code for it!
4. Codes are redeemed on social.bioware.com. For the PC and 360; they are platform agnostic.
5. To get your rifle, go to your multiplayer store in-game. You should see a free "Collector Rifle Pack" which will give you the CAR along with a couple of consumables.
6. I *think* that the Razer product codes expire December 31, 2012, while the Dark Horse codes expire on March 31, 2013

Trading Guidelines:
State any unused codes that you are
willing to trade, and any codes that you are looking for. If you see a
potential trade that you are interested in, PM the other person and work
out the details.
NEVER POST ANY CODES IN THIS THREAD OR ANY OTHER PUBLIC FORUM! Codes are not reusable, so the first person to redeem it keeps it. I know its obvious, but as you can see from this long post, I like to be thorough
As far as the trading goes, it is going to require a little bit of good faith. You need to both be clear on the terms of the trade before anyone sends anything.
Here is what I would suggest:
1. The person who ACCEPTS the trade (after it has been confirmed) sends everything but the last part of their code. So for the CAR promo codes, which are 4 sections of 4 characters, if your code is "1111-2222-3333-4444", you would send "1111-2222-3333-"
2. The person who INITIATED the trade sends their code in full.
3. The person who ACCEPTED the trade sends the last part of their code.
This way, the initiator has to reveal his code first, while having partial assurance that A) their trading partner has this account connected with ME3 and
This system is by no means perfect. One person ends up partially vulnerable, and you don't have much recourse if someone rips you off. All I can recommend is if someone does rip you off, post it here. You could also try reporting the user, but even if the mods take notice, I don't think this forum has any protections against this sort of thing.
A couple of other things:
1. MAKE SURE that the person with whom you are trading has registered a copy of ME3 with the account that they are messaging from.
2. I would STRONGLY recommend that all trade-initiation takes place here. Anyone can read these threads; only game owners can post. That way, if someone steals your code, you know exactly who to report.
If anyone has a better system for doing this, please let me know!
Having said that, if you use the system up top, I can't imagine you having a big problem. Most people are honest, and seeing as how you have to link your game to your forum account to post here, it's not like you can just slink away into the night. Still, be cautious, and use your common sense. I failed to do this and lost one of my codes to a scammer as a result.
Always state the platform for the codes that you are offering/seeking. For CAR codes, make sure to post the source of the code (eg: Razer Vespula, Dark Horse Digital Invasion, etc.).
Finally, if you have a good experience trading, post it! The more trust and good-will we can foster here, the better it will work out!
