This is a ROUGH guide to help out modders. It assumes you know the basics of modding coalesced.ini.  Make a backup first.

A word of warning:
Thomas Abram - Quality Assurance Division - Edmonton ]: "To confirm, YES you will be banned if Origin picks up that you modified SP which it scans for on ME3 launch. Locked."
http://social.biowar...index/9917845/2

All codes are actually one line.  I had to put line breaks to get it to fit the borders of the forum.:?

No helmets on full body suits: (You will still get the default N7 helmet when there is no atmosphere)
Ctrl F    "fullbodyhelmetappearances"

Remove the mesh so:
(Mesh=(Male="biog_hmm_hgr_shp_r.SHPa.HMM_HGR_SHPa_MDL",
Female="BIOG_HMF_HGR_SHP_R.SHPa.HMF_HGR_SHPa_MDL",bHideHair=True),
Id=0,Type=CustomizableType_Helmet)

becomes
(Id=0,Type=CustomizableType_Helmet)

repeat for Id=1, Id= 2,. .......Id=12

If you only want to disable the helmet for a specific suit, you need to figure out the Id of that specific suit.  Easiest way is trial and error playing around with the "Full Body ID" in Gibbed.

Unlock any helmet:
set
PlotFlag=-1

Swap helmets on full body suits:

1) Figure out the Id of the suit you want to wear: Ctrl F "fullbodyappearances"
2) Figure out the mesh of the helmet you want to wear: Ctrl F
"fullbodyhelmetappearances"  for suit helmets or "helmetappearances"   for individual helmets

In my case its the inferno armor

(Mesh=(Male="BIOG_HMM_ARM_SHP_R.FBDe.HMM_ARM_FBDe_NH_MDL",
Female="BIOG_HMF_ARM_SHP_R.FBDe.HMF_ARM_FBDe_NH_MDL"),
GameEffects=("SFXGameContent.SFXGameEffect_UniqueArmor_Inferno"),
Id=7,Name=352047,Description=352048,PlotFlag=-1,Type=CustomizableType_Torso)

and the kuwashii visor

(Mesh=(MaleVisor="biog_hmm_hgr_shp_r.SHPd.HMM_HGR_SHPd_MDL",
FemaleVisor="BIOG_HMF_HGR_SHP_R.SHPd.HMF_HGR_SHPd_MDL")
,
GameEffects=("SFXGameContent.SFXGameEffect_PartBasedArmor_ConstraintDamageBonus","SFXGameContent.SFXGameEffect_PartBasedArmor_WeaponDamageBonus_Weak")
,Id=4,Name=601645,Description=335473,PlotFlag=18988,Type=CustomizableType_Helmet)

3) Find the Id of the helmet that's paired to your suit Id: Ctrl F   "fullbodyhelmetappearances"
4) Copy the mesh of the helmet you want over the default mesh.

So
(Mesh=(MaleVisor="biog_hmm_hgr_shp_r.SHPe.HMM_HGR_SHPe_MDL",
FemaleVisor="BIOG_HMF_HGR_SHP_R.SHPd.HMF_HGR_SHPd_MDL",bHasBreather=True,bHideHair=True,bHideHead=True),
Id=7,Type=CustomizableType_Helmet)

Becomes

(Mesh=(MaleVisor="biog_hmm_hgr_shp_r.SHPd.HMM_HGR_SHPd_MDL",
FemaleVisor="BIOG_HMF_HGR_SHP_R.SHPd.HMF_HGR_SHPd_MDL"),
Id=7,Type=CustomizableType_Helmet)

Make it wearable in space.

(Mesh=(MaleVisor="biog_hmm_hgr_shp_r.SHPd.HMM_HGR_SHPd_MDL",
FemaleVisor="BIOG_HMF_HGR_SHP_R.SHPd.HMF_HGR_SHPd_MDL"
,bHasBreather=True,bHideHair=False,bHideHead=False),Id=7,Type=CustomizableType_Helmet)

You Must have some type of valid helmet/visor, otherwise the default N7 will appear.   It probably only needs bHasBreather=True, but I stopped testing once I got it to work.  This should work with the other visors. Not tested with femshep.  I'd imagine the Hidehair variable is there to prevent clipping.

Hey what you found is really amazing, since the only helmets I like in the entire game are the N7 and the Cerberus Helmet, can you tell me if it is possible to swap the Cerberus Armor Helmet in place of say, the death mask, so I could wear all my customizable armor parts with the Cerberus Helmet whenever I scroll over to where the death mask was?

It sounds like it's possible from your post, but I would like to ask you since you are the one who pioneered this little gem. Thanks! :)

I still don't know why Bioware didn't implement a toggle helmet option for full suits, boggles my mind.

Should work

This is the code for the cerberus armor. I found this by trial and error. (changing the letter after FBD_ changes the look to a different armor. Cerberus happens to be FBDc)

(Mesh=(Male="BIOG_HMM_ARM_SHP_R.FBDc.HMM_ARM_FBDc_NH_MDL",
Female="BIOG_HMF_ARM_SHP_R.FBDc.HMF_ARM_FBDc_NH_MDL"),
GameEffects=("SFXGameContent.SFXGameEffect_UniqueArmor_Cerberus"),
Id=8,Name=351273,Description=351274,PlotFlag=20984,Type=CustomizableType_Torso)

So its ID=8. My ID MIGHT BE DIFFERENT FROM YOURS since I've modded my ini to hell.

This is the code for death mask. You can tell by looking at the melee bonus

(Mesh=(Male="biog_hmm_hgr_shp_r.SHPc.HMM_HGR_SHPc_MDL",
Female="BIOG_HMF_HGR_SHP_R.SHPc.HMF_HGR_SHPc_MDL",
bHasBreather=True,bHideHead=True,bHideHair=True),
GameEffects=("SFXGameContent.SFXGameEffect_PartBasedArmor_MeleeDamageBonus"),
Id=3,Name=335474,Description=335475,PlotFlag=18995,Type=CustomizableType_Helmet)

I basically copied the deathmask mesh

(Mesh=(Male="biog_hmm_hgr_shp_r.SHPc.HMM_HGR_SHPc_MDL",
Female="BIOG_HMF_HGR_SHP_R.SHPc.HMF_HGR_SHPc_MDL",
bHasBreather=True,bHideHead=True,bHideHair=True)

over the mesh in ID8 for full body helmets

(Mesh=(Male="biog_hmm_hgr_shp_r.FBDc.HMM_HGR_FBDc_MDL",
Female="BIOG_HMF_HGR_SHP_R.FBDc.HMF_HGR_FBDc_MDL",
bHasBreather=True,bHideHair=True),Id=8,Type=CustomizableType_Helmet)

to make

(Mesh=(Male="biog_hmm_hgr_shp_r.SHPc.HMM_HGR_SHPc_MDL",
Female="BIOG_HMF_HGR_SHP_R.SHPc.HMF_HGR_SHPc_MDL",
bHasBreather=True,bHideHead=True,bHideHair=True),
Id=8,Type=CustomizableType_Helmet)

Again, my ID for the cerberus armor might not match the default anymore. Try 8. If it doesn't work, create an entirely new armor copy pasted from the cerberus mesh. Id=15 or higher plot flag=-1. Then create an entirely new full body helmet copy pasted from the death mask mesh, with the same id number as the new armor you just made.

I misunderstood your question.

To put full body suit helmets as individual helmets, find the fullbodyhelmet mesh then add it under the regular helmets and create a new id and plot flag.

For cerberus, put this under the last entry in helmetappearances

(Mesh=(Male="biog_hmm_hgr_shp_r.FBDc.HMM_HGR_FBDc_MDL",
Female="BIOG_HMF_HGR_SHP_R.FBDc.HMF_HGR_FBDc_MDL",
bHasBreather=True,bHideHair=True),
Id=16,Name=718143,Description=718146,PlotFlag=-1,Type=CustomizableType_Helmet)

Make sure the ID isn't taken.  I made mine 16. The description/name will say something random.  If it matters to you, change it to something else.  You'll have to add the armor bonus if you want one.(headshot dmg/power dmg/regen etc.)  It goes between the mesh and the Id number.

Maybe reckoner knight is special 1 piece since it was a promotion.

It works for terminus, inferno, n7 defender, blood dragon, and cerberus :/

Nope, its actually very easy. There is just on flaw in the setup. Remember the option that makes helmets disappear in conversations that are not made in space? Its for those that use a full face helmet all the time and therefor is easily overlooked. If you set that option to true in the ingame options menu, and wear a special armor like the Terminus, your helmet disappears when talking.

Hows this? Quite easy actually.

If you check out the fullbodyappearances, youll notice that every armor except the new N7 one is there 2 times. The first ones in the list are welded with a helmet, the second ones are helmetless and are used in conversations. There can be easily noticed, because they are missing the bhidehead and the bhidehair parameters. You can use these and simply add them to torsoappearances. They still keep their game effects, description and name. they are just found at the end of your torso menu. To counteract clipping with legs, shoulders and arms, just add blanks in those categories.
(Id=7,Type=CustomizableType_Arms,PlotFlag=-1)
(Id=7,Type=CustomizableType_Legs,PlotFlag=-1)
(Id=7,Type=CustomizableType_Shoulders,PlotFlag=-1)

They work as intended and just create an invisible bodypart. You can also add game effects to them if you want.
That way you can add any helmet you want with any armor you want.

Remeber, that you need to increase the id of each added part by 1 to make them work.

*Facepalm*

Why didn't I think of that when I spent x amount of hours trying to figure out why I couldn't get the headpieces working. :pinched:

Thanks for this, although as a console user it does make me angry that Bioware failed completely to incorporate this into the main game.

I still don't get why they put a lot of effort into the new weapons and customization system and then basically phoned it in for the armor customization (how many new assets are there? 8 maybe?).

Why you can't change colours, remove helmets, change helmets etc. on the full body suits is beyond my comprehension. Also ironic given that the N7 defender suit can be customized in MP but not SP.

I still don't understand why they didn't just make all of the helmets separate from the body (even of the full suits) so that you could mix and match to your hearts content.

Since angry threads can't go by without invoking the ending(s), I'll say this: This is more annoying than the endings for me (especially given how easy to implement it apparently is).

On the more positive side keep up the good work.

Errr sorry call me a noob but I am lost here.I have modded many games in my life and can use the gibbed editor very well but with this one I'm just lost.I hate the helmet thing,what I don't understand is that before the 1.01 patch I could use the dragon blood armor and it wouldn't show my helmet unless I was out in space,but in normal playing areas like on the shuttle or on the Normandy the helmet would be off,not just in conversations.Did they change this with the update? Cause now the helmet appears everywhere,excluding cutscenes.And I have no idea how to mod the coalesced file,what do I even open it with?

Awesome! I can't believe they didn't include it in the game already. AFAIK there were a lot of complaints that you can't take of the helmet on the "Set" Armor...

Ctrl F    "fullbodyhelmetappearances"

Remove the mesh so:
(Mesh=(Male="biog_hmm_hgr_shp_r.SHPa.HMM_HGR_SHPa_MDL",
Female="BIOG_HMF_HGR_SHP_R.SHPa.HMF_HGR_SHPa_MDL",bHideHair=True),
Id=0,Type=CustomizableType_Helmet)

becomes
(Id=0,Type=CustomizableType_Helmet)

repeat for Id=1, Id= 2,. .......Id=12

I did this for all helmets, but I am still wearing helmets, even inside a space station (Cerberus Ajax Armor).

Too bad Bioware always tries to impose what they think is best on everybody.

I could write a full paper on what I had to change with Coalesced in order to make this game better for me - most things could easily have been added by Bioware in the Options menu, like a CommandMenu toggle mode.
