1 Tali - best Tech in the galxy + my reason to fight the reapers (LI)
2 Garrus - best budy, a great support with Widow for my tanking Soldier Sheard
3 Liara - she is like sister to me now, plus hey we need at least one hot blue chick squadmate
4 Miranda - I liked her a bit more than Ashley - I think she is a stronger character. My favourite Human squadmate in the series.
5 Wrex - The best Krogan there is - Grunt is just a mindless tool - Wrex is strong as he is Wise
6 Tazik - Shwarzeneger Salarian FTW - too bad we couldnt see him in ME3 with Liara as his new boss I think he would ge a great crew addition.
7 Ashely/Vega - depends whether you are male/female character. I liked Ashley , and suprisingly I like Vega too. I just rearly have enought room to fit them into my squad.

I belive there should be one more spot on the crew 8 is a nice number after all.

If that were the case I would probably give that eighter to Legion or Javik.

1. Ashley/Kaidan- Main LIs for MaleShep/FemShep respectively, reliable in combat, and have matured throughout the series
2. Garrus- Bro for life, follows you into hell itself, and always has a witty joke to tell
3. Tali- Engineering expertise and growth of character
4. Wrex/Grunt- Always need some heavy tank firepower
5. Mordin- Always loved his "hamster on coffee" character
6. Kasumi- A true Infiltrator with funny lines now and then
7. Jack- Biotic prowess and her character was arguably the most improved of the ME2 squaddies

Liara, Garrus, Tali, Miranda, Jack, Grunt, and VS for me... mostly because I find them to be either be the most interesting or want them to be there for the final push, as I believe they deserve it and can contribute a lot.  Can I have a +1 for Legion also..?  I value him on the field more than Tali, but Tali plays such an important role to the story that I guess I'd have to choose her if not.

I guess I'm having a total brain fart, but who is VS?

Garrus: the combination of powers and being a BA friend and sniper is sweet.
Tali: My favorite LI and she knows how to handle a shotgun which goes well with tech powers
Samara: A decent character but when it comes down to it she would be too powerful to pass up anyway.
Grunt: (I mean come on did you see that final scene with the Rachni)
Legion: arguably my fav non-tali crew mate. He grows into a true individual which is cool. And his collection of talents are to good to pass up anyway.
Mordin: maybe not if it was just one battle but for Humor and brains I have to bring him (but he is probs my last one in)
Last I love Wrex/Liara/and Anderson but when it comes down to it I like ME1 wrex to much to pick him

Honarable mentions:
I didn't really know Javik but I hear good things and I considered him. I love Thane and he's a really cool person but he just brings the wrong kind of abilities to my team. Ash i cool but not cool enough. Miranda is obviously smoking hot but thats just not enough.

Edit: I would of picked EDI but I think her and joker are a given in considering I should get the Normandy. I like her as the ship more than as the body.

Kaidan : forever LI. And hot. And devoted. And very useful in combat.
Liara : LI once, the cutest thing and a damn good squadmate.

Mordin : one of the greatest characters of the trilogy.

Legion : love his dialogues.
Wrex : too bad he didn't come back as a squadmate.

Liara - orginally just close friends with Shep, but I liked her character development and the idea of the friendship evolving into a romance.
Kaidan - been with Shepard since the very beginning, brothers in arms.
Garrus - gotta have the turian-human bromance, there's no Shepard without Vakarian.
Legion - most interesting squadmate of ME2, I love the geth and legion.
Mordin - salarians are awesome and mordin is a great character.
Thane - my most used me2 squadmate along with Garrus/Legion/Mordin, I like the badass assassin with a spiritual side.
Javik - some prothean to spice things up. I think Shepard would feel some connection to Javik, with what he's been through (beacons and the cipher, and the fact they had both been "resurrected" to fight the reapers).

Eliminating the ones who actively annoyed me (Samara,Legion) and the ones who died in my ME1 ME2 (Kaidan, Tali, Thane, Grunt, Miranda) only left me with six! I'll go ahead and add James to the list to make it seven. He grew on me. I HATED Edi though.

1.Samara: My favorite LI, a strong character and personalty to use the lyrics from Doro and Lemmy's duet of Love Me Forever "Oh my lost love come on back to me now"

2.Thane, I know he SPOILER died and his death was the one that hit me the hardest, it was a powerful scene that chocked me up, and brought a tear to me eye, but after that he was just forgotten about by everyone else, it was sickening to me. END SPOILER Thane was a bad @ss and I like him more than Garrus,

3.Jack: A Bad@ss and my 2nd favorite LI, and her story and personalty are great, such a tragic troubled character

4.Garrus: Come on, he's been with ya since the start, and he's just cool.

5.Vega: My favorite new character in ME3, and my favorite human dude squad mate in the series (not counting the brief time Anderson was a squadie)

6.Ashley: I love it that she didn't just drop everything and run back to me after I came back from 2 years dead, she had legitimate concerns and she wasn't just going to run back to some one claiming to be me, and she never once held back and stood fast in her beliefs and was willing to take a stand and tell this stuff to my face. I respect people like that, and she acted the most real with someone coming back from the dead.

I didn't go with Wrex because I just think it would screw up his story and the Krogan characters to have him back as a full time squad mate. It would be out of character for both him and the Krogan if he's supposed to be king leader of Krogan. I love Wrex but I couldn't bare to see such an out of character thing happen to him and the Krogan.

And Javik as an eighth. Partially because I need another biotic and his banter with Liara and Legion on missions would be legendary...but mostly because of his kickass Particle Beam.

As for the Normandy; i'd keep the new Kodiaks (guns make everything better!), Cortez, EDI, Joker, Traynor, Adams, Gabby n' Ken, Mess Sergeant Gardener and KEI-9; while bringing back the Hammerhead and Mako (just in case there's some, you know, mountains that need vertically climbing).

6. Wrex - preferred Krogan tank.
7. Liara - because it's truly impossible to get rid of her.

Kasumi - Shadow strike, and general awesomeness, badass accent
Wish they both got more character development.
