It's so refreshing to read an answer that sounds honest instead of some PR bullsh*t. Good news, too. Them being aware of this is really all we can expect at this point.

Hello Lovelies,

After listening and considering all of your responses in the last few hours, Nick and I would like to have a heart to heart with you all. This comes not out of defense for Bioware, but out of concern for our cause. Honestly.

Bioware, like any consumer driven company does not want to drive away its costumers aka us, the fans. With Mass Effect 3 they've done a pretty shoddy job of that, true, but they are driven by our money. Unfortunately for them and us, they don't have a crystal ball that can forsee our reactions to their decisions. They make a product that, in their eyes, is going to be sucsessful. Now, their reaction to our displeasure was initially severe, but they are now opening up to our opinions and ideas. And to continue with this kind of relationship, we need to go about it respectfully and we need to play the corporate game to some extent. I know, we shouldn't have to, but this is the way it has to be if we're going to be succsesful.

This brings me to my next point, friends. Companies operate according to the bottom monetary line, which is determined by accounting. We don't need to fume about writers or animators when more often than not, it's the money that jails their ideas. We don't believe that the nonexsistant flash back scenes were due to flagging, as you've pointed out that's super easy to accomplish. As old and tiresome as it's getting to hear, it was most likely due to time and resources needed for animation, voice actors, testing, editing, and writing. After all, resources are being spread over, not only ME3 single player, but also multiplayer, the upcoming Mass Effect Vega movie, Dragon Age 3, and it's corolating movie: Dawn of the Seeker, and the books associated with both franchises.

There's something that we forgot to mention to you. Along with being urged to keep showing our interest in romance dlc, we were told that romance dlc for sole characters is severely less likely than a group romance dlc. This is why splinter groups would almost assuredly cripple our cause. We need to work together and bring positive attention to our group. No tantrums or flaming, okay? That would hurt us all. To get the LI DLC we all want, we need to play their game. We need to show them that not only is there demand, but there are willing consumers, and that there will be money if they produce this DLC. And we need our voices to chime loud enough for not only Bioware to hear but also EA Games as well, who most likely has much to say about the allocation of resources.

                Make yourselves proud,
                              Aryss A and Nick B

Wait. Would this group romance DLC have VS and Liara content in it? And Garrus and Tali content?

Curious about this as well. I understand Ashley got a better romance arc than the ME2 ones but there is improvement that can be made to improve the romance/ friendship arc. It just seems that she is missing content in the second half of the game. Also just to make it clear, I support the ME2 movement because everybody should have a good romance arc.

So glad to see you on the forums, Aryss. Thank you for the updates and information on the LI fanbook/PAX talks! I don't think we can overstate the gratitude and love for Visii, Aryss, and Nick's hard work! Thank you all a million times over. <3

I think tying the fanbooks together is a marvelous idea. Individual fanbooks allow people to gush about their favorite ME2 character/LI while keeping an overarching goal in mind when the books mention they're in support of ALL the romances. Then rounding those efforts out with the next group project to bring it home. Good plan is good. ;)

When we talk about romance DLC I think it goes without saying that we're not looking for a DLC that has NOTHING BUT romance content. We're looking for a DLC that features the romanceable characters in missions, dialogues, cut scenes, and as squad mates or companions on the Normandy with good romance content available within that framework. I personally want to be able to cure Thane and have his romance fleshed out and continued but I hope that content is made available *within* the DLC, not as its main focus. While I'm getting to finally love up my chosen romance (Thane) and continue my Shep's story with her LI, I want others to be getting that same opportunity with theirs (Jack, Jacob, Miranda, Samara, etc). I want to be going on missions with Jack and Samara, talk with Miranda about Cerberus, head to Kahje to see more Drell with Thane and Kolyat, take back Omega with Aria and Kasumi cloaking right behind us, hear how Zaeed's ME2 LM outcome now affects his role with the Blue Suns, and hear Thane and Javik have the glorious banter I know they would. I don't want a DLC dating sim, I want solid ME3 content with all the characters I missed the most, content that will be fun for everyone no matter who you romanced. We don't just love these characters as romance options, we love them period and want to see them and use them. The romance content should be there and be good, but it should be woven into story content to make it fun, fair, and marketable to the whole ME3 audience. Am I off base here, or is this what we're hoping for? Just trying to help this whole movement make sense for some of the community who is saying romance content wouldn't be marketable or worth it.

And Patrick Weekes, just let me love you. That quote gives us all hope!

That's a great response from Patrick Weekes. It's also wonderful to know he's reading through the book and genuinely taking our feedback into consideration.

And as sydzilla said, I also want more content for ALL the ME2 characters. Not just romance content. I missed those old squadmates and NPCs sorely in ME3. It's good to see we are making some progress. Anyway, I should really get back to work on a special project (that will hopefully help our cause).

Hello Friends,

You want to know what went down on the last day of PAX East? Of course you do! Here
it is! After speaking with the Bioware staff, here are some tidbits that we have 'gleaned.' Please understand that some of this we may have misinterpreted. This is our take on what we heard. We may, because we are human, be mistaken.
On General Romance Options: We asked about why there were only five main romance options available in ME3. (Garrus, Tali, Ashley, Kaidan, and Liara)The response was that they felt that there were seven main romance options (including Traynor and Cortez,) which is more than there were in Mass Effect 2 where there were only six (Tali, Garrus, Thane, Miranda, Jack, and Jacob.)

This is what we gathered. Again, we may be wrong on what we thought we heard on
everything except for the following.

On this project: Over and over again, and from several different people, we were told that, for us to make a difference in future DLC, we need to continue speaking out in a unified voice. It will be easy to be drowned out by the movements that are campaigning for different endings. For us to succeed we must persevere and we must stand together.

                                                            <3   -Aryss Arlova & Nick

This is what I read, Tali, Garrus, Thane, Miranda, Jack, and Jacob,

What my mind and gut are telling me is Bioware team don't plan on adding anything to a LI Samara, they think it's a dead issue or something.

Which brings me to my next thing, After reading the whole PAX LI book my heart was broken at the content provided for Samara in there. The Letters for Samara felt well lacking, I've aired my thoughts and feelings of this over in the Samara thread.

Which from the response I've gathered over there many of my fellow Samaritans felt somewhat the same when reading the book.

Now this brinks me to my thought and issue I'd like to make note of

Honestly.

                              Aryss A and Nick B

The group LI DLC, thing, As a logical man, and after reading the LI PAX book, I thought to myself, wow all the other LI's have stuff going here, they got a rather cohisive and well developed fallowing and their letters are all great.
Except Samara, I then thought well if I were Bioware/EA and read this book (again I posted a longer version of this in the Samara thread) I'd be like, well there is money to be made off of, Thane, Jack, Miranda, Liara, Tali, Garrus. Jacob well that's a whole can of worms right now..

I spent the last 24 hours leading up to the PAX LI
letter deadline doing anything and everything I could to get more
Samara letters in and my efforts really didn't make much differnce

My point being that I just don't think us Samaritans have offered any stong showing and made much of an impresstion with our represntation in that book. As of now I think any Samara DLC content is something that is not ever going to be considered.

Now I don't want to hurt this group and it's noble cause, and having all of us spliter off and start demanding seperate LI DLC would undoubtably hurt the cause.

Now I know we all need a unifeid front and all that but also the characters that have the strongest showing and all that are going to take front seat in the money making machine. SO in essence we are all still fighting for our own personal favorite LI. For me that 's Samara

As of now I don't see any progess or ground that this group has been able to make for any further Samara content, and well frankly if I feel like there is nothing to be gained and it's all a lost cause (which at this point it's looking that way to me for us Samaritans) then I'd rather just step out of the group because I feel I'd only be hurting this movement and holding it back.

SO with all thisI'm trying to say If you need someone to
somehow help with something Samara related I'd be happy to do what I
can, PM or what ever. I don't know if there is going to be any new projects or what not, or
projects geared toward certain LI's  (I have no fan art skills), I just
have my own bullheaded driven determination, iron will, and boisterous
personality, that can be offered,

So as of now I will be ducking on out of this thing because I really don't want to hinder you all, But If ya want some one with an iron will and what not, and want to get any further attention to the Samara romance, well you can always PM me,

And with that I bid you all farewell, I'll be over in the Samara Thread,
Gearseffect

@Gearseffect: Although my LI was Thane, I would love to write a letter in support of Samara, or even the other LIs that did not have a large presence in the LI Fan Book for PAX. Whether it is for your individual fan book or the new project, I will try to write a letter to support each LI individually. Samara is an amazing character, and I would hate it if she is passed up in a ME2 LI DLC. That wouldn't be fair to everyone that chose her as an LI.

I love Samara as well and was disappointed I didn't get to romance her. I didn't want to make my letter too long, so I sort of filed her in my brain under 'ME2 characters I want more content for'.

Also, my project I'm working on will INCLUDE Samara. Mostly because I feel like she is a gorgeous, intriguing, powerful character. Someone who should have been explored further, especially in ME3 after what happens with her family.

She is one of my favorites in the series, no doubt.

Well, if DLC happens, I think it's pretty likely that it will not be romance-exclusive, simply because that would make the content more interesting for more players.

For example, a DLC with an awesome mission with each of the ME2 LI characters would be worth checking out regardless of the romance, but you would get variant dialogue and a romance scene if the romance were flagged.

I don't know if it will happen, but that's what we should be hoping/pushing for.

I guess the other option would be including the ME2 LIs in a pure Romance DLC that also included additional material for the ME3 romances. Also good, of course (though not quite as good).

Bless you.

Obviously some ME2 character fans may not appreciate that the ones who already got plenty are getting even more (assuming the group romance DLC has Liara or VS content, for instance) but I think the truth is that if they put in content for everyone, it will improve the DLC's chances of getting made. So really, content for you means content for me, etc.

I just hope that if they do put in ME1 character content, it doesn't continue to be better and meatier than the content I get. And I hope the DLC would try to acknowledge that it has something to make up for with the way it handled the ME2 LIs. Developers underestimate how validating it is just to feel like they know they were unfair about a certain thing and are interested in making up for it. Not obligated to make up for it; interested. Because they care. I would hope that if the DLC was ever released, the Liara, VS, Garrus, and Tali content would feel supplementary, while the Thane, Jack, Miranda, and (possibly) Jacob content would feel reparative.

I was thinking the same thing.  As long as the content is all-encompassing + extra ME2 character-goodness, it makes it more appealing for everyone to buy.  It would take some creativity to do this.  I hope they consider it.

I already stated in the new project thread that despite my statement I just can't walk away,
Note to myself I need to make a Garrus Motivational with his line about "Before your best friend picks you up and dusts you off"

EDIT Oh I'd be happy to have some more Ashley in this DLC, (Kaidan is always dead in my games), and Ashley really needs some upgrading work done, ya go from her not trusting ya to her getting bashed and then to her getting in your bed,

No big convos airing of feelings no hashing things out, it felt empty.

Liara, PLEASE if she has to be in it make it lighter than the rest of the stuff, I had been a Liara defender until I played ME3, so I'm feeling force feed Liara,
