Man...I ended up rewriting this a bunch, and I still think it's terrible but whatever I hope it makes a difference.

Dear BioWare,

I first want to thank you, had you not painstakingly created such a wonderful universe I doubt so many people like myself would care so much. The love you have for your games and story is evident throughout. Which is why what happened in Mass Effect 3 is so painful. I don't even know how to describe my confusion as to how the events for the LI's introduced in Mass Effect 2 played out. When Miranda was introduced in Mass Effect 2, I was beside myself. She was perfect for my Shepard. It felt like a relationship between two equals it was incredible. I was so excited to see where Miranda went after the end of Mass Effect 2, from the new and budding relationship with her sister, to what she would do after leaving Cerberus there was such opprotunity to work with her character.

Instead we got...nothing. She's so woefully underutilized throughout the game that she feels like a mere afterthought. I've tried so many times to figure out a good way to commnicate my dissapointment with how she was handled in Mass Effect 3. The best I can do is simply list my complaints, others have likely spoken far more eloquently on the issues plauging her characterization that I'll try and simply stick to my issues with her romance.
Most of Miranda's "Romance" scenes are no more than 3-4 line extensions added to already exsisting friendship scenes. It didn't seem that bad to me until I played through the game a second time romancing Liara. The sheer amount of content tailored specific to her romance was incredible, it was so well done. But why does it feel like only characters introduced in Mass Effect 1 got that sort of treatment? The Mass Effect 2 LIs seem to be ignored or just outright destroyed in the case of Jacob and Thane. Why is that the only way to see an onscreen kiss between the two of them is to have Miranda die? Why is that also the only way to have an "I love you" between them? Why can't she come back on the Normandy with me after Sanctuary?

I look at what all of the ME1 LI's recieved and all I can think is...what did I do to not deserve that? Was it because I decided to choose the wrong LI? That because I didn't pick the VS or Liara I need to be punished? Why can't I have a pillow talk scene like Liara or Ashley got? Why is my "romance" scene a cut to black before ANY romance happens? Hell it just ends after that. No goodbye, no nothing. Shepard's just standing back outside the apartment as if nothing happened. One of the most agregious things to me is at the end of the game. Shepard flashes back to the people most important to him, Joker, Anderson, and...Liara? Look I get it Liara is awesome. But as shown by people digging through the files you clearly cared enough to insert the VS in place of her had that Shepard romanced her, yet for anyone else you just get Liara. There's no other files for the other LIs, you just didn't care to put them in.

I just don't understand what I did to deserve having this aspect of my Shepard's story essentially ignored. Would it have been that hard to give Shepard and Miranda 1 scene unique to their romance? Would it have been that hard to acknowledge the fact that yes they were in a relationship? There would have been so many little things you could have done, why on Sanctuary does Shepard act no different if he has or hasn't romanced Miranda. I as the player was certainly freaking out when Kai Leng showed up and attacked her, but Shepard who was in love with her seemed more distressed when Cortez crashed his shuttle then when his lover was attacked by the crazy cybernetic assassin who had previously gotten the better of him...TWICE.

I just...I don't know what to say BioWare. All I wanted was for my romance to matter in Mass Effect 3, but I guess becuse I didn't pick a ME1 introduced LI I don't matter.

Sorry I didn't like the color blue as much as you did BioWare, I guess I learned my lesson.

 My letter to Bioware regarding Ashley Williams

Dear Bioware/EA,

I would like you to know a little more about me. My name is Malcom Stewart, I am 19 years old and I absolutely love Mass Effect.

I have been a hardcore Mass Effect fan before the first one even came out. I remember counting down the days until the first game was released and when the game finally did release, I literally teared up with joy. I always liked video games as a kid but when I played the first Mass Effect I fell in love. Never before have I cared so much about a game and it's character. It truly changed my life. The Mass Effect trilogy is truly a marvel, I loved each game. Mass Effect 3 is my favorite but I do have quite a few concerns I would like to share with you. I am very much against the current ending however I will make a seperate letter for that. Ashley Williams is my favorite character so this letter will be mainly about her and her role in ME3.

Ashley Williams was great in ME3. I really enjoyed her romance but to be brutally honest she doesn't have any use outside of that. She was so down played in ME3 and didn't get enough of a voice. In ME1, Ash was loud spoken, not only about her opinions, but her feelings for Shepard. Ashley was only truly Ashley during the Mars mission. She was vocal about her distrust of Shepard and Cerberus but then still admitted she loved Shepard and I really liked that. But I thought it went way too far in terms of her spending too much of the game mistrusting Shepard and after she comes back abroad the Normandy she doesn't have a voice.

It is so disappointing that, outside of the drunk scene, you never you get an actual conversation with her on the Normandy. I wanted more of her. She never really got a chance to shine and even after we rekindled our romance she stayed quiet. Ashley Williams and being quiet do not go together, she needs to be more of a presence. Even the crew barely mentions her. We never got to see her interact with the crew, if you never talked to her it was almost like she wasn't there.

There is a huge gap of content from rekindling to the romance to the romance scene. I will say I loved every romantic moment with Ash however few there were. Mass Effect 3 was amazing but the things about Ashley really bother me, I would appreciate it if something was done to rectify Ashley's role in ME3. I have several friends who are Ashley fans like me and hope that their voices are heard as well.

Well, I meant every single letter gets into the book. The book goes to PAX. At PAX  EvilChris and Mike Gamble will graciously receive it and undoubtedly, immediately see the error of the team's ways regarding most of the romances and declare, right then and there, a LoTSB-style romance DLC, Thane ressurection, and the shoving of Brynn Cole out an airlock.

I spent yesterday afternoon and into the early morning hours on varuis sites, places, haunts, and hangs, lobbying for more Samara fans to send some more letters, not sure if it worked only know that a number of people we're going to send some letters.

I'm eager to see if the Samara letter count went up more than just the 3. If not my heart will be broken
