Hi everyone.

I'm having problems with the mouse cursor (laptop trackpad) getting stuck whenever I open the tactics HUD screen on the PC version of ME1 (bought through Steam).

I've tried turning the hardware mouse option on and off and still have this problem - the mouse will move while the tabs of the HUD screen are opening but get stuck immediately after 90% of the time. Once I close the HUD screen, I'm able to move the mouse again.

The mouse cursor works without problems in all other menus and screens in the game.

Laptop spec:

Dual-core Intel CPU 2.4GHz
4GB RAM
Geforce GTX 260M (driver version 296.10 - also had this problem with older gfx drivers)
Win 7 64-bit SP1
DirectX 11

Does anyone have any solutions for this?

Driver 258-something for nVIDIA in ME-1.

(EDIT:  I had overlooked your CPU name before.  There are many low quality Intel processors that do not perform well.  It is possible it's what is called a "Pentium Dual".)

Looks like the oldest one I can get my hands on is 265, I'll give that a go and report back.

Thanks.

Edit: Just found 258, I'll give it a go.

No difference.

Is there anything else I can try?

If the CPU isn't a full power C2D, you may need to lower all settings, since the so-called "Pentium Dual" is really weak . .

If it was a spec issue, wouldn't I be experiencing slowdowns in the rest of the game?

I'm not sure how to check whether it's a full power C2D or not, but I am able to play ME1 at high settings (and newer games with higher requirements) without any other issues.
