Single player without a doubt. Like many said before; if I feel like playing multiplayer there are a lot of other games to choose from. This feels completely unnecessary here.
If you had to choose between the multiplayer mode or a more fleshed out singpleplayer mode, what would you choose?

Single player hands down
If they really wanted to go multiplayer they "could" have always made another game of Mass Effect, that is not a Shepard story......

Single player all the way. I've no interest in multiplayer & never touched it.

Singleplayer of course. While I do enjoy the multiplayer (something which I didn't really expect), I still think it's tacked on just to attract casual gamers and to make more money on microtransaction and DLC.

Get rid of multiplayer - Add more diverse places, deeper character development Oh yeah AND and ENDING THAT MAKES SENSE.

Ideally, I would choose a better single player mode. But, I would say, best case scenario: you give us the best possible quality singleplayer and then tack on a multiplayer after the fact.

I like the multiplayer a lot but, I'd trade it for a better ending in a heartbeat.

Single player for me too. I have no intention of going anywhere near a multiplayer (or MMO for that matter) in this or any other franchise.

Single player for me. Maybe some DLC, or standalone multi player game afterwards, but all their effort should have being put into the SP.

While I do play the multiplayer at the moment, I'd still toss it out the window for a better Single player experience, with a fixed Thane romance and fixed endings!

SP. The ME games have always been a singleplayer game, the story and everything you do is focused on what you as a player choose, and i don't think the MP fits into that very well and i don't think they should take resources away from SP to flesh out the MP. Especially not when the SP needs so much work.
I think they made the MP (kinda) work with the SP, but it doesn't really feel like it's part of the (SP)game. Not that that's a bad thing- i actually think it's probably good thing as it would be bad if they tried to tack on storystuff in the MP, but it does make it feel like a completely separate game.
Having said that I will say that i really enjoyed the MP and i think it's a success (far from perfect, mind you but still a success) but i can't afford to keep paying for Live to continue playing it. And i would definitely not pay for any MP DLC.

Single player. I like co-op MP a lot more than competitive MP, but neither gets me invested the way a solid SP game does.

I honestly like the Multiplayer a lot.... but I would still go for a more fleshed uot Singleplayer. I would rather have seen a multiplayer spinoff as a separate game or something.

I only played MP to get the readiness up. I was bored by it after three or so hours because you are doing the exact same thing over and over again on every map, and there isn't much to it. Besides, there are lots of good games that focus solely on multiplayer. Mass Effect is a game that should focus on an awesome singleplayer.

I also think, that the MP would have fit much better in ME2, more different enemys(batarians, eclipse, blood pack, blue suns, some mechs and random monsters, thresher maws etc.) and every single side or storyline mission map, can be used as multi player map
