If you had to choose between the multiplayer mode or a more fleshed out singpleplayer mode, what would you choose?

I didnt buy Mass Effect for the multiplayer experience. Though it is fun thats not why I love Mass Effect. Single player is what should be the main focus in this series as I'm sure it is.

Single player as multiplayer is for idiots.

They should just remove MP and then patch out that terrible EMS system.

If I want to play multiplayer, I'll play a multiplayer game like Battlefield or Halo. Mass Effect is, and should have always been a singleplayer game. I don't have a problem with multiplayer there, but I DO have a problem with it being integral to get the best ending. If I had to choose between singleplayer content and multiplayer, that's not even a question for me. I beat ME3 in 25 hours, doing every quest and scanning every system. ME2 took me 10 more hours... and I don't want to sound crazy here, but... I wonder if that can be attributed to multiplayer.

I would sacrifice multiplayer, kinect support, and even Javik upon a burning altar alongside many a fatted calf if it meant the singleplayer could've been fleshed out farther and have quests somewhere between "old teammate cameos" and "go scan this planet fetchquests".

ME is hailed because it is one of the strongest singleplayer experiences on the market. Although I know likely none of the above things (except for all that failed kinect support stuff that got cut down and streamlined to voice commands . . . /sigh) actually impacted development of the singleplayer, I would still gladly trade them in a heartbeat.

With what resources? MP was done by a different group that likely does not have experience with RPGs.

Singleplayer of course. They could have used all those resources and man hours on main story and what we have gotten in the end could have been way better. I mean look at that journal...

No they couldn't.

Again, I think people dont understand how budgeting for a tripleA game works...

Each department is given a set amount of cash at the beginning but they are INDEPENDENT of each other. If Voice acting needs more money, they can't simply walk over to level design and pinch their budget EVEN if level design is 50% under budget.

The director in charge of Voice-over would have to go to the overall budget director who would have to request more money from EA JUST for voice-acting (and of course, EA will want to know why said budget was not sufficient)

Sure, for smaller indy games, there's just one budget where all the money is simply taken from as needed but for AAA titles? No.

I think most people are saying....(hypothetically)......if EA allotted $1,000,000 to ME3 in total, to be divided as follows:
SP $650,000
MP $350,000
they would have rather EA put the full $1,000,000 into a SP only game, to hopefully ensure a more polished product. Of course, there is no guarantee that the ending would be any better....or the journal would work.....or the auto-dialog would be replaced by real conversation........etc.
However, it may have been more of a time issue, than a money/resources issue......like:
EA: the game is done now.
Bioware: we still need to............
EA: right, Like we said....the game is done NOW!
LOL

Um, is this a serious question? Whether it's fun or not, multiplayer in ME3 is just unnecessary. Skyrim, AC2, BioShock, Arkham City, the other ME games, all are among my favorite games and they don't have multiplayer. Sadly, ME has drifted from a great concept and story into a "OMFG MAP PACKZ!!"

The story of ME3 was still (mostly) great, and there was great dialogue, but it bothers me that multiplayer is the direction BioWare seems to be going.

So yes, I wish there was more fleshed out single player.

Considering the state Dragon Age 2 was shipped in, I am wondering if they will let DA3 even get to the alpha stage.

It will probably be a slideshow of the storyboards.

Flawed survey is flawed. You are asking in the story and campaign forum where the readership is most likely inclined to care about sp more than mp. Ask this in the mp forums and the results will likely be different.

That said, sp, of course.

Too bad I have no choice if I want an ending where Shepard lives. Nice move, Bioware.

I'm still wondering what the **** multiplayer is doing in the Mass Effect trilogy at all.

It should have been completely left out and developed into a separate Mass Effect universe game (as was originally planned).

This is a survey?

I'm not recording any results.  Who is?

Definitely SP. I even thought I might try the ME MP (would be the first one in 20 years of gaming) but somehow it's just not attractive for me (especially after seeing the SP ending.

So yeah, single player all the way!

Mass Effect's single player wasn't all that lacking to me, but of course I would trade the multiplayer for more singleplayer missions. The games themselves, especially the second one for me, have had their own re-playability because of the story and your own Shepard's journey as you mixed it up with different decisions and classes. Multiplayer is fun, and I really enjoy it, but I can live without it in the ME universe. That being said, I would trade the multiplayer in for a better ending in a heartbeat.

You're not understanding me still..

You're assuming that EA started and said "here's a million dollars and you will make both a MP and SP campaign".

No.

What EA does is that they explicitly give the SP a certain amount that is based on what THEY think should be sufficient for the game...

They don't just a general pool of money that they split between the two...

If trading the MP would fix bugs and add more depth to the story and give more interaction with other characters, NPCs, etc.. Yes.

Wouldn't have minded at all if this game didn't have multiplayer. I much prefer a deeper game overall (though some people hate it, i really really miss roving planets in my Mako to find out outposts and minerals).
As far as replayability goes, Mass Effect on its own has a very high replayability value due to the type of choice based story telling (ME1 and ME2 i've played 6 complete times so far), my main stopper when trying to replay ME3 is the ending, if that would get fixed i'll gladly keep playing the rest of my ME1/ME2 saves and buy any single-player DLC.

There are so many other MP games that I can play (and do) with my friends. Mass Effect has always been about the single player for me.

Definitely the better SP over multiplayer. Mass Effect has always been a single player game.

But I do give them props for the multiplayer. It is both fun and addicting. I would even go as far as saying it is better then Gears' horde mode and Halo's firefight mode.
