If you had to choose between the multiplayer mode or a more fleshed out singpleplayer mode, what would you choose?

It's an unfair question since they were both by different teams, with different budgets AND the mutiplayer was originally meant as a stand-alone FPS: http://www.gamefront...person-shooter/

Please read the first post.  If you have trouble, ask someone else to read it aloud for you and then tell you what "hypothetical" means.

Even "hypothetical" it's an unfair question.  A hypothetical question can still be an unfair question.

It's like asking "Would you like the money from Transformers 3 movie go to Transformers Prime the tv show instead?"

Different Teams, different goals, different everything.

In this hypothetical exercise, single-player. Without a doubt.

I'll add this to the thought experiment: if BioWare focused their resources on a stellar, highly-polished, and unforgettable single-player game, I would have been totally on board if they used it as a springboard for a more action-oriented "Gears of War" type game featuring strong co-op and competitive 3rd person multiplayer. It could be a game about a Terminus mercenary group and their own missions again both Reaper forces and more conventional foes, one that cut out RPG elements in favor of tweaked and refined shooter aspects.

So I'm wondering, hypothetically of course, who else would buy both a much better, single-player-only ME3 as well as a shooter-oriented spinoff with both competitive and co-op mutiplayer?

Drop the competitive and replace with "Split-Screen" and I raise my hand.

Unfair to who?

Stop getting your panties in a bunch over nothing, and completely missing the point.

Singleplayer. Singlyplayer all the way! Especially since MP as it stands is just horde mode. I can have that in Halo, CoD, and GoW. If I want horde mode, I'll play those games. If I want a well thought-out and epic singleplayer experience, I want to play Mass Effect.

However, if they went as originally planned where we would get SP only ME3 and a MP focused ME game later, I would be totally cool with that.

Single player. I'm not saying multiplayer was a bad idea...it wasn't. It should've been saved for its own experience..that way it could be more fleshed out as well and further the franchise. Plus, you double dip and get more money rather than combining two things in to one.

Bioware/EA were developing a standalone multiplayer game: http://m.ign.com/articles/1220932

And to the OP, SP for sure. Can get my MP fix elsewhere, I participated in last week's operation, was kinda fun leveling my characters but it gets old fast, no real motivation to participate in operation raptor.

edit: shouldn't this be a poll?

Shouldn't even be up for debate, the single player was always this game's selling point.

Better and more complete single-player experience, and it's not even CLOSE!

Single. If I wanted to do multiplayer I'd go join an America's Army server. And major irritation that you can't get the best ending (imo) without MP'ing to get your EMS high enough.

Mp was fun. Would I trade it for a better/longer single player? Wouldn't even take a heart beat.

Hard question to answer. I love the multiplayer I always see a co-op experience as a bonus to any game but in saying that this is a bolted on horde mode cop out which I don't even really class as real co-op but again it is still fun.

Now if giving up the multiplayer would have given me a fleshed out ending instead of a nonsensicle rush job ending and maybe some fleshed out love interest scenarios instead of some one liners and a sex scene and an actual exploration of a story instead of a hollywood "blockbuster" which ammounts to nothing more than a lot of explosions and flashy special effects... Yeah I might actually have given up multiplayer.

Mass effect started off as an interactive "experience" and ended up becoming a film I took part in. Don't get me wrong I still love the whoal mass effect trilogy (aside the god awfull ending) but this final chapter just seemed to have a lot missing.

I love ME3's multiplayer and I just can't stop playing it. BUT, I bought ME3 for its single-player campaign, and NOT MP. If giving up MP will improve ME3's SP including getting us a fixed ending, then so be it.

It's a pretty loaded question even if you claim it's hypothetical, OP.

More fleshed out singleplayer of course. This is a story driven franchise. Multiplayer is meaningless to it. It's only there so people who buy used games will have to pay for the online pass so EA can make money off of used game sales.

Single player. I have no interest in Mass Effect's multiplayer. Haven't even tried it out. I've got plenty of multiplayer games when I'm in the mood.

I want more single player.  I haven't played the multiplayer once and don't care too.  I play mass effect for the SINGLE  PLAYER expereince.  If I want multiplayer I 'll play something else.

I'm here for the story and nothing more.

Single player.

Then they could develope and implement multiplayer as DLC. Game gets both; neither side suffers.

Lol just thought - wouldn't it have been cool if there were big boss fights like saren again except Many more ? Like multiplayer would be - people can pop in to help you on boss fights. (like dark souls). Nah nm lol. Only mp I wouldve liked is if me was mmo and there was a cool story line behind it and cool customizable armor weapon system.

I think I replied a long time ago to this thread but I think this game was intended to be a single player game.bioware should've asked to cut funding to mp completely and use resources toward single player. What a waste of money they did. ME co op shooter survival game shouldvr been it's own spin off with more customizable weapons/avatars as well as a more fleshed out "achievement system" other wise where it stands. It's pretty boring, it was cool for about a week. In other words they should've knocked off cod with me3 flavor, considering they knocked off deus ex single Player. Why not ?
