Judging form what I've seen, if I were a woman I'd just keep quiet to avoid harassment too.

Indeed. A lot of us male gamers don't like it either and would never do something like that, but it doesn't take that many idiots to ruin the fun.

Actually I tend to keep quiet too when I'm not playing with my friends. Even I have heard downright creepy comments. There was this one guy... I don't even know where to begin. It was bad enough that I logged off and deleted my character so he would never find me again

Idiocy. I feel bad for my girlfriend when she plays anything online. Someone is always saying something along the lines of, "Why aren't you in my kitchen?" , "OMG A GIRL!" or "Jeez get out, girls suck at everything.". Either of us telling them to grow up is a wasted effort of course because anonymity gives people the bravery to act like a ****head with no reprisal. I feel for you.

Ever been in a room with a 15 year old kid and a random female? it can get messy quick. I'm a guy and some of the crap that comes up makes me face palm. 

This dude put it pretty well.  I will never forget being in a match on Halo 3 this girl and really nerdy sounding kid was arguing, and he finished it with, "Sorry, I don't speak GIRL!"

Truly, a facepalm moment.

Yeah, one guy was like, "Why are you even playing this?"
Then I killed a Cerberus Guardian by sniping him through the slot, with a ton of smoke around him. Which was really lucky, because I'm not usually that good a shot
The last thing I heard was, "The ****?" and I turned my mic off.

I'm just glad I got that shot in one try. It made me feel good xD

EDIT: I meant to tell you, your signature almost made me tear up...

Agreed, it only takes a few.  I for one make it a point to stay as profesional as possible, its not like I'm every going to meet her even if she did like me, no real point chatting her up.

Course my nerdy persona kinda makes it pointless anyway, but I like to pretend that it's my choice;)

There are tons of ladies around and playing multiplayer. Most just prefer not using the mic on public or going into public matches to mitigate harrassment. Unfortunate as that is.
