I agree, especially since I play on Xbox Live - the console that COMES WITH A FREE MIC!!! Most of the time, if I can't get freinds to play with me, I'll still stay in their live parties just because I know from experiance that I'd only be greeted with dead silence in the random game lobbies anyways.

Being free is a bonus but that mic that comes with the 360 is trash, and the wireless mic that MS makes is trash too.  The only good one is the new offical wireless/supports blutooth mic.

Also I never understood why PS3 players CBF getting a mic.  during black friday/week before Xmas Newegg had a samsung BT headset for FREE.  you paid 20 dollars up front and used a rebate ticket for 20 dollars with free shipping...

I don't know about you, but if you talk, I talk. Otherwise, I'm quiet.

I find that people that talk tend to coordinate much better with everyone else. Me and 2 salarian engineer guys who kept me posted on their situation absolutly mauled gold all 3 matches we played. And we were all only levels 15-18.

After them, i joined a team with 3 level 20 guys and they all had perfect equipment for their classes. We got owned because they didn't want to warn each other when, say, 2 phantoms snuck up behind us. It's all about the teamwork.

I don't own one and I don't feel the need to spend money on one. Besides, I don't like listening to random people yelling at me, which is why I turn them off altogether. A good team usually plays well enough without them anyway.

I don't have one yet, I do for my ps3 but I play ME on pc. I'm getting one soon though. Turtle Beach is releasing the Ear Force z11 on April 13th.

I use the PX3 for both PS3 and PC.  Really good head set.

Yes, I chat but more often than not don't get a reply.  What scares me the most about chatting, is the absurd amount of weirdos that are out there.

1. Most mics are garbage. Not a lot of people have decent headsets.
2. The game doesn't provide nearly enough options to get it configured right. No settings for input volume, boost, or detection sensitivity. No test mode to check if it's even working or at the proper volume.

I don't have one and don't plan on getting one. I'm not a big MP gamer anyway. This is the first MP I've been able to actually get into and stick with. So, buying a mic for one game? No.

I can see where it would be helpful in Gold matches where coordination is a must, but I only stick to Bronze anyway. Besides, my voice is deep and low, you wouldn't hear me without needing to turn your volume all the way up.

I find my mic only works part of the time in ME3. It works OK the rest of the time. I have heard that many PC players have this problem.

the main reason I don't actively use mine is for the general douchebaggery cited in previous posts. If somebody else is already making good conversation or making helpful comments I sometimes bother to turn my mute off. The main reason I even have mine plugged in at all is so I can manually turn the chat volume down for all the fools who keep bumping their mic and talk to somebody in their living room, or have their tv volume up way too high so we can hear the echo in our headsets - for these people, I wear my volume controller quite normally.

On a side note, I once received a text message from somebody who didn't have a mic, when, at the end of a match where I was the last player after banshees executed everyone else, I received "retard" for making a poor last stand. classic. :D

I try to only find matches with mic users. More fun conversations and all that jazz. Also communication is great during gold. Sadly xbl is not what it used to be when it first started out. Nobody uses mics anymore.

I play on XBL, there are very very good reasons why I fear speaking into a mic around other XBL users based on the community. Dear god, the community *shudders*

Jokes aside, I just use the standard "came with the xbox mic" and that's pretty crappy, so I rarely talk unless absolutely required....That and I have only played up to silver so I have no real tactical use for it aside from telling someone they are an idiot (which, surprisingly, isn't very constructive I've heard)

I do not own a mic, and even if I do I probably won't be talking much because of my funny accent lol.
I generally enjoy listening to others talking through mics though, it makes the game more fun imo xD

I find it pretty difficult to use microphones, telephones, etc. It's not anxiety/shyness, and I've tried to work past it before. Doesn't work out well for me. I just go without.

I talk on the mic if other people do.

But then, I don't talk much.

only time a mic would be any good is with people you know. randoms just.. well we all know how randoms are.
then there is the whole " e'f that mother e'fer! how dare he tell me what to do!!" when all you said was "pyro's behind us."

sound fix for annoying voice users.
just go into options and set the voice chat output device to the on board sound card, which my speakers are NOT plugged into.

then you cant hear anything all the kids say or dont say. burping, slurping, farting, chewing, mouth clicking, mouth popping, crappy music spam, playing the drums with fingers, random stupid comments, or complaining about not getting revived on the other side of the map followed by rage quits.

I don't have a pair of headphones with a mic and I run into a lot of Russians when I play, so the language barrier is a real problem as I only know a few phrases.

I'd love to be able to use a mic, but it doesn't work for me in this game for whatever reason. Works in Teamspeak and Ventrilo just fine.

The question of 'why do so few people use the mic' pales in comparison to 'WHERE IS THE TEXT CHAT!?'.

Bioware, almost every single Multiplayer out there has a Text chat! Give us one, at least to use in the lobby!

People don't use mics? This is good news for me. I don't want to be yelled at through the game.

Because I hate XBL kids.

The 360 community is 90% 18-30 year old males.
At least the one's who use mics, that is

ME has too much talking and not enough shooting for the xbl kids.

I only use a mic on gold and if the other people don't have annoying voices/personalities. :pinched:

I'm a bit rubbish so I'd get yelled at all the time by mean-spirited, pre-pubescent children. Some people take this waaaay too seriously!
