yeah, you can either spend 15$ a month playing wow, or 35$ a month buying a new game to play every 2 months or so, and that's not taking into account all the DLC's that they force you to pay for. The simple fact is that single player games just never have enough content to keep you going for as long as an MMO.

Hmm... I play ever major title and have yet to find one that forces me to buy DLC.

I'm willing to give The Old Republic a chance, but other then that MMOs suck. Anyone who plays them are low life losers who need to get out the house. If your currently playing an MMo that insult is directed towards you. Get a life people, MMOs haven't saved you money. Look at Blizzards plan for WoW for instance. So far they have made a killing off of people from charging a monthly fee, and people are actually stupid enough to continue playing the same exact repetitive boring ****. So maybe you deserve to get the **** charged out of you. Then they go on to release 2 overpriced expansions for the game and have another one on the way. In the process they have completely ruined the Warcraft series as an RTS which is what the series started as and was up until WoW was released. Because you have allowed yourself to be exploited by Blizzard they are now releasing Starcraft 2 in 3 parts and you will still have to buy premium maps. They will probably do the same with Diablo 3. For all we know they could even charge for the use of battle.net now. You've let people like this get away with it until there is no longer a point in playing these games. If they aren't overpricing the **** out of the game, they are completely ruining a series by turning them into an MMOs and overpricing the **** out of them. Has it ever occured to you that maybe not everyone wants to play an MMO? Anyways if Bioware can pull off The Old Republic then maybe MMOs aren't completely hopeless, otherwise they need to be shutdown.

There isn't a new game worth buying that comes out that often.

MMOs are better cause you get more for your money.

DAO costs 50 bucks where I am and it gets boring even during 1st playthrough to most people(Just cause you liked this sucky game so much that you're on 6th playthrough and still loving it doesn't mean I'm wrong in that fact by the way)

Except it DOES mean that you are wrong. YOU do not speak for most people and would have no possible way of knowing this unless you took a mass survey. Using your same logic, just because it got boring for you and your friends on the first playthrough doesn't mean the game is boring. You're basically saying "this game is boring because everyone I've talked to says it is. There's a whole thread about it." People who post on this forum are a minority.

I think I've effectively lost my tank spot in my WoW guild thanks to DAO. Not because I am rampantly playing this every single second, but I remembered what fun it could be to not race home from a 10 hour day at work so I can basically start my second job and listen to the screaming on vent. It's been refreshing, and I've had time to focus on my long forgotten pasttimes.

never really had this problem, or any of the other problems people talk about so much with mmos. i played wow with some real life friends, and some ingame friends. it was more of a social thing, we could talk/joke around and play a game at the same time. i recently quit though because it has stopped being fun because of some ingame drama. even though we were in a hard core raid guild, i still considered us casual players, because we raided about 6 or 7hours a week, cleared all the content, but we also hopped off and had social lives lol. but, after i did everything there was to do in the game, and it started to becomes a grind for gear that i didnt need, but other people in the guild did, i pretty much decided i had won..i beat wow. lol. ive tried almost every mmo's either beta, or "invite a friend" trial account thing, and most of them had the same problems, so i didnt get into them. the old republic is one mmo i might consider having a nerdgasm over, because kotor was amazing, and from what ive seen, this game seems more like an rpg, less like a "activision-blizzard" money grab, i mean mmo. i hope my expectations for the old republic arnt dashed, i also hope i get to play in beta XD

Cost of games is never an issue for me. As an adult with a full-time job and countless other responsibilities, time is more valuable than anything. MMO's are lots of fun, but I don't have the time to put in to max out my characters and go on raids, etc. - while with single player games I can play at my own pace, and expect top quality at every turn with less grind.

DA:O never had dull moments for the most part, and kept me hooked until the very end. Now I'm eager to get through my second run with a new character. In MMO's, way too much time is spent on tedious quests just to add a small fractional increase to my armor class or damage (all of which will be rendered useless when expansions and level updates come out).

I could not have said it better:wizard:

I am really surprised at all these perceotions of what high end raid guilds are like. WoW doesn't require any of that to complete the raid content anymore. If you cannot PuG the raid content currently available you have other issues. The game is so super easy now it feels like you are playing it with cheat codes.

I guess it all depends on playstyle. I prefer MMo's actually. I love to play competive in games, I dont care if i'm rank zillion. I just like to try and beat other players. And in MMO's it's more fighting. I like more action. I can imagine people like games like this tho. Great story and movies etc but I can watch them only once (if i want good quality il rent a movie you know :/) a lil problem is this game was not be able to respec. making me re-create and having to skip all those movies again. I just wanna fight and see how this playstyle work. thats just my opinion.

it's a great game. rly love it tho. But I can't wait for GW2!!

You insult people who have an different playstyle. thats childish.

and some bad arguments. WoW is pricy?? hahahaha! If I want to game cheap Il play WoW again!!!! You knows whats expensive? I'm waiting for GW2 so started playing different games again.

In the last month I bought CoD MW2 and DA:O. thats like 90 euros. I could have played 9 month WoW with that. serious, you are the one talking BS here. I still laugh at people who say wow people pay to much money. they pay 12 euros or so every month. while you buy like 1/2 games every month and complete em in 11 hours or so. (DA:O not ofc)

And why do you say eveyrone is low-life? I know alot of people who play MMO's. but only a few hours a week. Yh it is true that MMo's tend to atrract more hc gamers and no-lifers. but MMO are in general very addicting. And so is DA:O.

But, never mind you. obvious troll is obvious.

what; that a subscription based mmo might end up being cheaper? I dunno, lets wait and see.

And yes I worked hard on that avatar. He is devout to the circle of magi btw and considers the First Enchanter to be god like.

There has never been one, and there is no reason to expect that there ever will be. Certainly not 1 per month.

Also, you may not be aware of this but if you stop paying for WoW, they don't let you play it anymore. You can never pay another penny for DA and still play it every day of your life until you die. Single player games are cool like that.

Well, that having the choice to pay for optional additional content is cheaper overall than the required monthly subscription fee (+expansions if you're into raid progression or PVP or "being able to play half the content that's all at the endgame).

Gah! The more I stare at your avatar, the more I want to punch him in the face! You're truly an evil, evil man.

But, when an MMO sucks you in and that's ALL you play, you end up paying less. I've had 3 WoW subscriptions running for the last 2 years (yay multi-boxing), and I've spent almost half that amount just buying the 'latest and greatest' games for this holiday season alone, likely none of which are going to suck me in for as long as wow did.

If its $15 a month for a WoW subscription, that's the equivalent of 1 new game every 3-4 months. Can you honestly say you've only bought 3-4 games in the last year?

That's assuming that you only buy games at their initial release price. Considering Steam has different games on sale every single week, that would make you an idiot. Unless it's a game I've been dying for or know is going to be amazing, (basically "unless it's Bioware-developed") I wait for the inevitable price drop. Besides, I'm paying more but I'm getting better quality content instead of endless raids after killing 10 rats for 80 levels.

Wow, nerdrage-tastic to call someone an idiot without even knowing what I bought, how many games I bought and at what price.

Obviously not worth talking to you then. Peace.

Yeah, I'm suuuuuure that's what you meant, especially with your little quip on MMOs at the end there. Obviously you've got some deeply-rooted, and quite sad at that, hatred for MMOs and the people that play them.

So, nope, no crying here. Just ignoring someone with their head too far up their own ass.

lmao, seriously? If I hated MMO's and all its players, why would I be trying to explain my position as anything else? I had a WoW account up until a few months ago, played the Aion beta, played the Champions Online beta and still have an active account in it, as well as an account in the free MMO and winner of "Most Generic Title": Runes of Magic. MMO's can be fun in the endgame, but I do not herald them as anything even remotely interesting until then. I can only thing of Scarlet Monastery and one or two other instances before you get into hardcore raid progression that are any fun.

And I thought you were done talking to me, anyway.
