It is not broken, a disc snapped in half is broken, corrupted data is broken, glitch or bug that prevents you physically reaching the end of the game due to code error is broken. Your dislike of how they ended it is not "broken", if you can reach the end of the game the product "works" as intended.
No man, it's broken. Just because critical path exists doesn't mean the software is working as intended. How can this ongoing damage to the ME brand possibly be the result of a product "working as intended"?

Pretty much this. Just because you don't like it and/or don't understand the endings, doesn't mean their broken. They're just fine, maybe some of you should play through again and actually listen to what the dialogue is.
Just a thought. Cause, you know.. sometimes you learn stuff the more you play it. Because when you first start playing it, you're too excited because it's new. You miss stuff.

It may "work", but not as intended

The story it tells is what is broken about it. From the point you go up on that floating white platform the story is no longer Mass Effect, everything past that point violates directly every tenant of the Mass Effect story.
In the Mass Effect story Shepard doesn't just accept what he is told, he challenges everyone and makes his own choices. In the ending Shepard is compliant and accepts everything he is told.
In the Mass Effect story, decisions you make matter, and have lasting impact. In the ending, nothing you did before that points matter, and the choices you make after that point are destroy galactic civilization as we know it with one of 3 colors.
In the Mass Effect story we form bonds with our squadmates and become invested in their lives, in their stories, and they become invested in us, willing to put their lives on the line every day for us, and us for them. In the ending they abandon us and high tail it for who knows where with no thought for us at all, nor do we get a chance to learn about their lives after that moment.
It gets even more broken when you start picking at all the last second retcons and plot holes.
