Couldn't have put it better myself. I seriously would have preferred the Reapers winning in this cycle because then at least I would know what happened to everyone I cared about

It's come up in a few discussions now and then from various people that, no matter what the consequences of the ending, the cycle is in fact broken, Reapers are no longer a threat and future races will be free of bad Reaper influence, being culled etc. etc.

There's one issue I have with this: I DON'T CARE.

I got into Mass Effect because I became invested into the galaxy, it's various races and the galaxy.
I don't care whether the Yahg are now free to expand across the galaxy and eat puppies or whatever it is they do.
I don't care that in 10, 20, 30,000 years there'll be some form of galactic society again and I certainly don't care what some senile old man has to say to his naive grandson 10,000 years in the future on some backwater world I don't know and don't give a damn about!

I care about this galaxy, as is. I care about Garrus, about Liara, about Kaidan, about Tali building her home on Rannoch, about Wrex raising his new children. I care about Jack and her students, about Conrad, about Bailey. I care about the Turians, the Asari, the Quarians, the Geth, the Krogans.
Heck I even care about Vega and his N7 promotion.

That's what I care about, the characters I've gotten to know for 3 games. Not some nebulous, unseen and uneeded future. For that, you might as well let the Reapers win, because it amounts to exactly the same thing in the end. This isn't just about Shepard's unhappy ending. I want a happy ending, but even if it had to be a sacrifice, then I want that sacrifice to mean something other than some alien I don't care about not fearing the robotic squids from hell.

Yeah we are all whiney children who didnt get our fairytale ending? Ok heres my opinion. Pro-enders ignore logic because they want to blindly accept anything bioware puts out as art.

Hey they both reported me a few days ago, the lot of good it did just because i was poking holes in her logic than as predicted he showed up. But this is a new tactic i guess they are trying. Coming into a thread and using one sentence followed by s****ing on as many people as possible trying to draw an emotional reaction, and possibly getting that person to insult them. Its a pretty cute tactic though.

Honestly, people act as if an ending where everything doesn't go to **** would ruin the whole game. They ever heard of Earn Your Happy Ending. (Yeah, that's a TV Tropes link. There will be more. You've been warned.) That would have bben the perfect thing for the end of Shepard's story. All that fighting, pain and sacrifice get's rewarded with some actual sucess and victory. Instead we get a Pyrrhic Victory that quickly Fridge Horrors itself into an unavoidable Downer Ending. And, like the OP says, future people being happy in thousands of years does not count. We don't know them and don't want to sacrifice everybody we DO know to help them.

Why did Shepard insist on gathering support to take back Earth? Why was Earth so much more important than Palaven? Strategically, liberating the most advanced military force in the galaxy first makes more sense. But Shepard wanted to liberate Earth first.

Except it doesn't matter, because when the Mass Relays blow, there won't be an Earth. Or a Palaven. Or a Tuchanka. Etc, etc.

As curufinwe03 mentioned, they have approximately 5 hours to evacuate Sol before the supernova obliterates them. The fleets in space can escape, but they cannot evacuate the population on Earth in that time. How many people are on Earth during this time period? 7 billion?

Assuming they do escape the mass relay supernova, they are now derelict in space. They have no homeworlds to return to. Everyone planetside is dead.  Every single living thing is reduced to nebula material. No one is going to thank Shepard. No one is going to think it's preferable to have blown up every single relay, every single homeworld, in order to destroy the Reapers.
