Story. So much so that I hardly ever notice major flaws in gameplay until I read about them on forums after beating the game.

For games like Mass Effect, entirely for story and nothing else.

Story for the most part. Its much easier for me to play a bad game with a good story then it is for me to play a good game with a bad story.

Story.

Though sometimes gameplay can be so annoying that it's the sole reason I quit playing the game. Turn-based RPG, for instance. It kills me.

I often suffer from the same thing... if we want to call it "suffering"

Gameplay is important to me.

Doesn't mean I don't care about the story, or how the plot changes gameplay and features. The fact that Mass Effect 3's plot robbed me of all my favorite squadmates is one way story gets in the way of my enjoying the gameplay.

Mass Effect 3's ending made the sense of victory disappear, and soured the gameplay for me.

They effect each other massively.

I would never play Mass Effect if the story was COD singleplayer level. The gameplay is good but not THAT good. The story is what draws me in.

I prefer a well built game universe to a good story. To be honest no Mass Effect game had a particulary good story but they are some of my favorite games.
The most important thing is for me a good/functioning gameplay- Without it a good story would be destroyed. That happened for me in Heavy Rain and it really hurt my experience.
A prime example for a game that focuses on gameplay and simply the universe it is set in is Half Life. The story is presented very cautious but the many little details you discover inside the world makes you feel like being in the world. Half LIfe is a prime example for an immersive game.
I do not really care if this immersion is created with an exeptional story or with brilliant gameplay. It can evem ne a memorable soundtrack. I just need something for taht. Mass Effect fif it really well. I cared much more for Garrus than for the outcome of the story and I am still heartbroken that in my current playthrough Mordin and Legion are dead.
If you mean with story writing in general it is equally important to gameplay but the storyline alone does not necessarily make a game good.

Well as for me i would say for story and for the game itself.

But as in story i tend to like more Sci-Fi genre games such as kotors, mass effect but i also take in mind on what its based the story and the lore (or the universe if you prefer)..i dont like star trek it doesnt matter if it will have a good story or not its just not attractive to me.
