Yeah that kind of got me. Up to that point in all the games combined I've taken out at least two gunships, solo'd a reaper, took down multiple harbingers but some dude with a sword and his gunship manage to shut me down?
Also regarding the Citdael coup I was sitting there thinking "roll the car over, roll the car over." It feels like they shoehorned Kai Leng in because they thought he would be cool. For all the amazing moments the game has it has a few clunkers too.

I Also got the sense that TIM knew he was kind of a ****** and expected Shepard to get the best of him usually.
TIM: Ok, Shepard turned my best people against me, and destroyed the killer sexbot I constructed to replace them. Who do I have left?
Leng: Ooh, ooh, me me me! Pick me!
TIM: ....alright, whatever.
Leng: Yaaaay!
TIM: Finally. There's no way he'll survive meeting Shepard...

I enjoyed the fact that it took precisely one of my magnificent Javelin sniper headshots to take out his shields. And then him, once his shields went down permanently.

I had no idea that email came from Kai Leng until I came onto the forums. ... I guess that means I didn't get Kai Leng's character at all.

Kai Leng had menace?
He felt like a lame saturday morning cartoon villian. HIM from the Powerpuff girls had more menace.

Hah, well yes true... But I wanted to be charitable.
More accurately put, that childish mail destroyed any little villain cred he might have possibly had at that point (which for most of us was zero).

Citadel scene
Always thought he should have climbed a bit to knock KL off with one of the bridges. Cutscene Shep is very confused when Kai Leng is around. He also didn't help Thane fight the ****er....

Maybe Leng's Reaper tech has a Stupid-Field attached that gives everyone
around him poor judgment. Other characters also made tragically bad decisions around
Leng, including TIM promoting him and Thane literally running onto his sword.

I love the fact that I didn't waste a bullet on him. Charge-Nova. Nothing else really needed.
But I honestly don't think Kai Leng was ment to be that badass of a villian. The troll attempt showed he was a Joke Character who only managed to accomplish anything with pure luck and help alone while his brilliant comeback of 'Shut Up' to Shepard showing he was pathetic more than cememnted how hilarousely stupid he was.

That was his personality; he was arrogant and full of himself, probably to hide his insecurity. Best part of the fight in TIM's office was him bragging and you throwing the fact that he ran from both fights right back into his face, and the only thing he can say is "Shut up!"
Plus, he gave us the greatest Renegade interupt in the series and a one-liner to go with it. "This is for Thane you son of a ****!"

Considering what Shepard has been through, what he has done and what, to this point, he has killed I'm not certain why Bioware even bothered to put in a character that tries to threaten him (that includes TIM).
At this point, the exchanges should be:
Bad Guy 1: What ever you do, don't shoot at him with the Cain.
Bad Guy 2: Why not, does he have some tech that will send it back at us?
Bad Guy 1: No ... it's just that you might make him mad. Just kind of shoot at him, miss badly then run away. He's too busy killing million year old super lifeforms to worry about us.
