As I have seen in the past on the bioware forums, there has not been an issue with modding games which as is my understanding has now been labelled as 'cheating'. Id like some official clarification on the matter as different threads all seem to have different answers from Moderators and I think that now there has been an indication that players risk having their entire Origin account (including all non ME games) banned and therefore unplayable as a repurcussion of 'cheating' in their own, private single player games its important that it is outlined for everyone thoroughly.

While everyone can understand and agree that cheating in multiplayer games is wrong and SHOULD be policed, single player is a completely different story and its something that fans have paid $100 odd  to be able to enjoy as they see fit.

The most prominent example that comes to mind for myself is conversation options. Moderators have lead me to believe that something like increasing renegade/paragon points in your own, private single player game is enough to have your Origin account banned.
In Mass Effect 1 talent point options allowed you to allocate points to 'Charm' and 'Intimidate' making it easy to play as a mixed character making the game even more realistic for the player (in my opinion) becuse sometimes you want to shoot the closest person in the face, and other times you want to be caring and compassionate depending on what the situation calls for. Mass Effect's success hinges largely aroud the fact that you can become involved in the main character by directing dialogue and consequences.
In Mass Effect 2 and 3 this changed. Instead of having the ability to allocate points your conversation options were lead by points you have gathered through previous paragon or renegade actions. This made it harder to play a 50/50 character and meant that instead of getting all the paragon, or all the renegade options you just got less conversational options for each. This means that the most captivating part of the game: your interactions with other characters was hindered. By physically adjusting these stats players are then able to truly play a 50/50 character as they see fit and as a result explore MORE of the wonderful conversation and choice options bioware has given us. This leads to more playthroughs and a game that lasts for years and years to come.

Someone who doesnt enjoy playing online with other people (because they are incapable of adjusting their mic settings to not give you a brain hemorrage) might choose to adjust their war assets so that they can play through and experience all of the 16 wonderful ending options *cough* bioware has worked hard to give us. This makes the game unique and keeps people playing it again and again. Maybe they will adjust their war assets and their renegade/paragon points to get alternate dialogue or opportunities. Maybe they will discover more information or facts that were missed previously.

To this end I kindly request a full explaination as to why this is happening for peoples private, single player experiences and why bioware given the brief examples outlined above and any more situations people might like to expand on as to why they use these things to fully explore and enjoy the vast and very ritch game, would want to restrict this with incredibly harsh punishment?

Nobody wants their Origin accounts banned, but in the same way nobody wants to be unable to enjoy their game in its fullest in private either. People who dont want to play multiplayer, arent going to play it and if they feel like they are being bullied into it then they are going to stop playing all together or find ways around it.

I love the Mass Effect games and have been extremely supportive of Bioware as is the case with many, many other fans but this makes me feel a little bullied and I hope that all of this is just a case of a single slightly misinformed moderator.

Thankyou for your clarification on the matter, for all of your dedicated players.

So does that mean I could get banned because I changed the face texture of my Shepard?

I'll throw in on this. I want clarification, too. Modding FoV is a simple change to a few lines in the Coalesced file, and it will solve a lot of headache/nausea issues for PC players, but I'm afraid to touch it. ME3 is the only game I have on Origin, I don't want to lose it because I changed something that was physically causing me pain.

yes, modding can be as simple as updating textures to make what is already a magnificent game look even better. I have ME2 and ME3 on Origin and until this issue is resolved im too scared to purchase any other games on there and as much as I adore mass effect id return or trade in my games if I cant play them.
