Wow what's with the controller hate posts here. There's nothing wrong with using controllers, it comes down to personal preference and experience (there are people who can aim really well with them. I'm not one of them though

). Personally I prefer using the mouse and keyboard, but it really depends on what type of game I'm playing.
Now back to the OP, I can understand your assumption that it would have controller support. Particularly since the game is available on consoles, and that a lot of games that come out these days have controller support. However you've just learnt the hard way that it's never a good idea to assume such things.
As wookieepelt mentioned you could try pinnacle game profiler or xpadder. In the past I've found xpadder to be really good and it was free (Though it doesn't appear to be free anymore)
You could also try using the free program AutoHotkey. An awesome program and doesn't take up much resources. Though I've never used it for my controller, it can be used with them. I suggest taking a look at
