especially if you're a soldier, IMHO.

There could be a modular set or a non-customizable armor that can provide a bonus to weight reduction in the future.
But, I wonder if it would be any different from existing cooldown reduction pieces, and the Inferno and Blood Dragon Armors? I'm not sure myself yet.
Edit: here's what we have in ME3 so far: masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Armor#Mass_Effect_3

The first game has exoskeletons. So this would make sense.

They do, its called Rosenkov Materials Armor. + Power Recharge Speed does the same thing + weight gear would.

The same end result, anyway. I'm not sure reducing weight would provide the same boost in cooldown speed that a flat cooldown rate reduction would, not sure how the formula works.
That said, I generally prefer the current system of leaving carry weight as a strictly character stat. One would assume that boosted carrying capacity would only be worth bothering with if it offered a massive boost, as such an upgrade wouldn't be any use on characters that already had +200% recharge rate.
