Dragon Age > Oblivion?

The only thing Oblvion was better about was the freedom and how you could go anywhere and do anything. But, after a while you noticed that the monsters were the same, all the caves and forts were all the same. Plus the "leveling with you" system was flawed in my opinion.
Dragon Age's replayability is better, the gameplay is more challenging (not just hack and slash) and overall is a better game.
What do you guys think?

It depends on whether you like sandbox or storyline RPGs. Personally, I'll give the nod to Dragon Age.I like the combat system better and main plot a lot better. I would give the edge in replayability to Oblivion since you aren't on rails like you are in DA.
I entered the statement below into my truth machine:
Open world sandbox gameplay > well crafted single player experience?
It came back with this result:
FALSE
*shrugs*, can't argue with the Truth Machine.

It's like am I really supposed to believe that no Darkspawn would ever go back to previous locations.

Oblivion = open-world = transparent story, tons of freedom
In the end, I prefer Oblivion.

That's not to say that Oblivion (or Fallout 3, for that matter) was a bad game. Both were actually really good. They were a different experience, one that I personally place second to a great narrative and challenging tactical combat.
I love the party mechanic, too - a big negative to me was the solo aspect of both Oblivion and Fallout3. Either way, it is a personal thing. I have a buddy who got Dragon Age and hates it with a passion - played through Lothering, got to the Mage Tower, and finally gave the game to someone else.
I have placed Dragon Age along side the greats... still can't decide if it is better than Baldur's Gate 2 w/ expansion or not. I still think I prefer the magnificent Planescape: Torment, but it is a close call. I'm still a pencil and paper Dungeons and Dragons player, so I may be a bit biased.

Oblivion is like a MMO... without everyone else.
The 'open world' only lets you do one thing, grind. I actually feel bad for Oblivion junkies. They spend all day grinding their character in a totally empty world. And to what end? So they can show off to some random NPC who is too stupid to walk around without getting stuck behind some pillar.
Its really, really sad in my opinion. Takes a 'special' kind of person to find enjoyment in a singleplayer MMO. Special in that 'man this guy really has no real life friends' kind of way.
To each his own I guess. Personally, if I am going to grind, I would at least prefer to have some friends with me so I can at least talk to someone. You know... human interaction and all that?
Oh well.
By the way, I entered the following statement into my Truth Machine:
Open world game with 'freedom' and not much else = overrated?
It came back with this result:
TRUE
GG imo.

Now, I have played through Oblivion a few times on both PC and Console version. And after playing Dragon Age for about a week I gotta say that Dragon Age is a better game overall.
Man, how long did that take? I played Oblivion the first time for around 40 hours and then restared and installed a bunch of mods. My current save is a touch over 100 hours. I got a case of ADD and went off to play something else and can't say I've came back to it very often. I never did finish it on that 100 hour save either.

Why do people use Oblivion as a benchmark? Oblivion was an average run-of-the-mill RPG in my view. Nothing *special* about it.
Hmm.... perhaps it's the first GTA-like RPG with first-person action?

But as far as replayability is concerned:
Fallout 3 with mods > DA
also BG 2 > DA, which shows that replayability isn't primarily related to the question of open-world vs. confined levels.
