My opinion, DA and OB are two seperate games and rather different, even down to character building.

They are BOTH good games, I may enjoy DA more but thats because I prefer the UI more then the FPS-style OB UI.

Come to think of it, I really miss chatter in towns and cities. Oh how I miss "I saw a mudcrab the other day...". Dragon Age towns seem really, really dead.

DA > Oblivion....*nods*  They are however different games (even if both are RPGs) as some already have pointed out.

But what about Morrowind? It had great story, design and replayability. Fantastic game of its time. Oblivion...the sequal....was a well polished dissapointment tbh.

I also miss the AD&D ruleset in the Bioware games. BG2 and NWN (with expansions) are in my eyes better games than DA.

It depends on whether you like sandbox or storyline RPGs. Personally, I'll give the nod to Dragon Age.I like the combat system better and main plot a lot better. I would give the edge in replayability to Oblivion since you aren't on rails like you are in DA.

I entered the statement below into my truth machine:

Open world sandbox gameplay > well crafted single player experience?

It came back with this result:

FALSE

*shrugs*, can't argue with the Truth Machine™.

To be honest here i own both DAO and Oblivion goty, and both have suprising merits but i jusy could not get into Oblivion for some reason. I guess it would have to be that in Oblivion i kept getting lost or side tracked so i had a but load of stuff to do but no idea how to do it, and the game is sparse on details. Yea i went to the Beth forums and hit a few walkthrough sites, i did find a few really "interesting mods" Estrus comes to mind, WOW! Oblivion is rather a lonely game to play, and the world while open is a bit too open if you follow.

DAO provides a party mechanic where even though you are playing a single player experience it does not really feel like one. There is alot more astructure in DAO but i really do not think that is a bad thing if presented well and Bioware does this. All in all i liked both games for different reasons, i actually preffered Oblovion to the ME series but i still have not finished an Oblivion character yet i really do not like the leveling system in Oblivion, where in order to increase a skill one must use it sounds like a great idea until you have to take damage in combat in order to level skill in armor class, ok that is where i think it is fail.Gimmie XP per kill and let me loose.
