I'm about to finish Awakening with my (f!)Amell who is a Shapeshifter/Keeper/Blood Mage and a savant with Entropy. Then once I finish GoA and Witchhunt I'll import her for DA2 with a new Lady!Hawke. I've done 4 Mage playthroughs, 2 Human Nobles, 2 City Elf's, 2 Dwarf Commoners, 2 Dalish, and 1 Dwarf Noble. I love this game (DA2 as well). >.>

Methinks you've got the wrong forum/thread - this is the DA:O forum, and the question was who is still playing Dragon Age Origins. You seem to be talking about DA2. :)

DA2 is a good game in my eyes, but nowhere near as good as DA:O. B)

Still playing DA:O, currently doing (f)human noble/rogue/DW. Dalish elf is my favorite PC, however.

I've yet to complete DA2, heheh.

Currently playing now. Nothing else worth a damn out right now RPG wise. ME3 took a big crap, and DA 2, well it was Image IPB

After taking a month-long break, I'm going to finally finish Awakening with my "canon" City Elf Warden. Also finishing my dwarf playthrough to wash out the icky feeling DA2 left from its lack of races, origins, or role-playing value.

just started DAO, which also happens to be my very first RPG . I find myself quite frustrated during battle sequences with all the multitasking involved (i.e.button pushing and mouse clicking) . But then seeing that my first video game was "Pong" maybe, along with my age, could explain my lack of dexterity. However, I feel that with time; with much, much, much time, I will prevail

I really enjoy the interactions between the characters and the simple pleasures of finding stuff, loot and treasures. But the craziest part is, my goal in the game is getting my character to romance Alistair!
Which makes playing this game a lot more complex then jumping over barrels.

Glad to see you enjoying yourself - here's a few tips: the multi-tasking is much helped by the fact that you can pause the game by pressing space during combat and give your toons their orders while the game is paused. You can take all the time you want. :wizard:

A tip to make sure you don't miss stuff is that the TAB key (I think that the TAB key is the default - I've redefined it for myself to be the "z" key) will hilight things you can interact with. Use it frequently.

Also it is very helpful to take a little time to set up tactics for your toons - take a moment to look through the options you have. Oh, and buy every backpack you come across. Having more inventory space is well worth the cost.

thanks sword,I love how the tab helps find things a lot quicker.
I have had some trouble buying a back pack, It looks like I have enough coin, but it wont transfer.
Right know I am stuck on the trade route. What in the heck do they have in that cart? and who keeps blowing it up?

Hmm... Trade route? Cart blowing up? I don't think I know what you mean. Was it an ambush?

I don't remember any carts blowing up - it's probably a fire-ball trap near a cart on the battle-field. Also check to see that there aren't any mages or, say genloc emissaries or other magic user enemies flinging fireballs at you. :)

Any magic user enemies should be targeted first - take them out fast, they are dangerous if left to do their dirty work. Rogues are probably the second most dangerous.  If you have a rogue in your party, give him/her levels in the disable device/lockpicking tallent. That'll allow them to disable any traps you see, as well as open locked chests.

It helps if you have a mage in your party that has "croud control" spells - spells that disable or paralyze enemies. In the entropy spells, you have spells like "paralyze" and "mass paralyze" that are great - also in the elemental spells, "cone of cold" is great to freeze a group of enemies near your mage. Look through your spell options, and concentrate on these sorts of "crowd control" spells.

Oh, and when you buy a back pack, you won't see any item appear in your inventory - only your inventory limit goes up.

I just started a new mage game a few days ago. XD

I love this game. I have 3 profiles on my Xbox just so I can have so many wardens. I always come back to it since the re-playability is so high.

Thanks again. I am playing the mage. On the way to the circle, my party comes across a "merchant" selling a Tome. I believe his name is Beyhu. It all ends up in death and destruction. After reading your entry, I did find the mage and he must be sending a spell that blows everyone to the ground..
knocked him off only to be surrounded by Beyhu and his thugs. Oops!
My back pack is at 90 and that's as far as I have been able to go. I'll scout around for more info, Thanks for checking back and your help.

Ok - now I know the encounter - indeed, as you discovered, there's a mage on top of a hill, and it's important to take him out fast. If you've got the paralyze spell, or bettery yet, "crushing prison", use it on the mage right as the battle starts.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who did this Image IPB.  I never get bored or tired of this game ever.  Their is only a couple games other than DA:O that have its caliber of re-playabilty.

Yes you can start a new character after which I believe you choose the switch character button on the load screen to get to you old characters.

DAO is just an amazing game. I bought it a year ago and only started playing it 2 months ago. The fact some people are playing it after 3 years or the 10th time says it all. IF only we had more games like this, wouldn't we be lucky.

I have recently started a playthrough with a noble dwarf warrior :) I've never played as a dwarf before and I'm surprised by the amount of content and influence this origins has.

Also, the origin itself was truly surprising. I'm eager to arrive to Orzammar to kick bhelen's butt :D

Both of the dwarf origins are great! I like the Dwarven commoner origin better of the two though. Both origins give you reason to want to return to Orzammar, though I have to say that the return for the Dwarven noble is a bit less satisfying than I anticipated.

*minor, helpful spoiler warning*

(I'll give you a very slightly spoilerish hint, which I think leads to the only way to actually work towards clearing your name: so *spoiler warning*............. When you return, first go to Bhalen's representative, and agree to work for them. Switch sides after doing the first task, explaining that siding with Bhalen was a ruse, and work for the other side after that.)
